NW, he is not "by far the better keeper" there is minimal between them.
Marosi would not get a championship or even top end LG1 club. He, unfortunately for us and him, has been found out massively this season when exposed to actual situations where he has had to "be a goalkeeper"

Marosi will easily get a LG 1 club or be a deputy in the championship

Wilson is a league 2 understudy - he’s nowhere near the same level

I'm 100% correct. Get your Marosi tinted glasses off! You'd be surprised. Despite Wilsons past record of appearances. There may not be much difference in level of next club.

See, I'd say Wilson's more likely to be the Championship understudy. It's a bit of a soulless job sitting on the bench week in, week out, but he seems to have made a career of it.

Wonder if this season has given him a taste for first team football...?

Marosi will not get another club in the Championship grendel.
The only way he'll be a deputy in the Championship is of he is still here next year out of contractual necessity.

As an aside, for next season's keeper, how's Ellery Balcombe done on loan to Doncaster? He's had a good track record in terms of representing his country - is he ready for the Championship?

Scary that this is the most games he's played, really.

Didn't realise he had prior Championship experience until I just Googled!

Out of interest. How would you rate Marosi, Wilson and Burge in order of best to worst?

Marosi-Wilson (=)

Burge

Close between M/W even me with a fair bit of goalkeeping knowledge I don't know who I'd prefer in goal for us.
And this is NOT saying I think Wilson is any good either.
Robins did 100% the right thing last night IMO.
Based on exposure to the Championship I'd even probably just say that Wilson may just edge it for me if I had to pick the side.
Neither are the answer if we want to do any good in the Champ. I have said this for a very long time.

Re Burge.
Exactly the same situation as here.
Sunderland are bemoaning their keepers and fans don't rate either Burge or Matthews.

I think we play differently when Wilson plays and they tighten everything up to protect him, when MM plays we seem to play with a bit more freedom so teams get at us.

We must sign a new keeper for next season but I think it might be a loan from the prem as they seem to keep four or five goalies on the books look at Man Utd who spend something like 600k a week on keepers and Grant is on 30k per week as fourth choice. Goalkeeper seems to be a position where they will sit on the bench and take the cash.

I think I read that we will retire and become a goalkeeper coach there.

I think this is the position where a wise old head is worth his weight in gold, plenty knocking around who aren’t getting game time and would do a lot to settle the defence. One of these as first choice with a promising young understudy is the way to go.

Wasn’t he signed as he was good with his feet to play out from the back? Which we can’t do as much anymore. Need 2 new keepers anyway ideally.

Asking because I’m not sure if I made that up or it’s real.

Surely youd want a goal keeper to be good with his hands!
That might explain why we are struggling.

Sheffield United did ok with a young Henderson. A lot of the decision making will be down to wages as we have a lot of positions to replace if we stop up.

Jesus Christ. Marosi wouldn't get a top half league 1 club?! He is a league 1 title winner! Of course he bloody would! Both are good, solid league 1 level keepers who would do a good job at that level. They're just lacking that bit of championship quality, that's all.

Marosi was never good at coming off his line or dominating the area. Happy to see that MR has recognised this and I pray it means we're getting a new keeper in the summer - would be happy with a PL loanee.

I don’t go with all that, MM had made two basic similar mistakes in two games running that possibly cost us points but will also have had our defence perhaps temporarily lose confidence in Marosi, it was a massive, brave and proved to be correct decision from our manager to drop him for what was a crucial game. My conclusion is more Marosi’s injury has not completely cleared up and is effecting his game, but while I think Marosi in time will recover I do think a new keeper is needed

Badlan? will be opening his black book to find somebody from the German eighth division who we have been scouting for years.

They did but they had plenty to spend whereas keeper isn’t the only position we need help in and our budget is limited.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Marosi has played his last game for us. It’s clear we need a new #1, and while he’s a better keeper than Wilson, it’s Wilson who apparently has MR’s confidence at the moment. Given he’s surely on lower wages, and is apparently popular in the dressing room, you can see why we’d choose to keep Wilson as the backup. We have to economise somewhere, and you may as well do it with your keeper. Marosi will be fine.

Just stats speaking wilson has better stats and more points than morosi.Personally think about the same standard morosi passes it out to his 3CBs there lies the problem.wilson tends to kick out long.wilson far more suited for relegation battle .

I want the Rotherham goalie now. Young, commanding, decent shot stopper, great beard. I’m sold. I was going to say the young Danish lad on loan at PNE from Leicester, but then I saw PNEs defensive record this season...

Marosi was big par t of league 1 promotion. Can we do better now? Probably the but I won't get on his back either. Between him and Wilson they hopefully do enough to keep us in championship and that should make us like them more.

Not for me. From what I can see he’s kept 3 clean sheets this season, his kicking looked erratic, I believe he was having a miracle game to be honest. I’ll stick with my original (probably unrealistic) ask for Orjan Nyland.
