He's a breath of fresh air, never seems particularly troubled or panicked
And because of that 'neither am I.

recruiting a decent goalkeeper was long overdue, having to put up with burge's inadequacies completely undermined decent quality elsewhere on the pitch.

Glad someone made a thread to appreciate this guy. For me, along with Dabo, player of the season contender so far. What a difference Marosi has made to the team. Underrated.

Genuinely the coolest head in the entire stadium & you can't question his impact, we couldn't play this style of football without him.

I think he was underrated but not at us. I do have to laugh when people try to find fault with him. His two one on one saves in the last couple of games were excellent

My only small criticism of him (and I think he's been brilliant, by the way) is that he seems to have a default 'stay on his line' rather than come for some crosses - but I'm no keeper, and it doesn't seem to have cost us much. so who am I to say!!

For a keeper that likes to take risks on the ball he takes none on crosses

Good point, but thats a positive imo, at least the defenders arnt thinking Marosi may or may not be coming for this, they know they have to deal with it.

The errors by Burge at Sunderland and particularly at Walsall away when he even came to edge of penalty area to clear still haunt. And we we know what happened next.

It’s presumably Marosi’s decision and allows the centre halves to know that they should be attacking the ball. Given the system we play, it’s probably working better than it might have done had we stuck with 4 at the back

Oggy criticised him against brum with the long throw ins, saying he could have taken some heat of defenders which i think is fair point (i wasnt there mind you but il take his word for it.)

The thing is, if the defenders know he is going to stay in his 6 yard box then they know they have to deal with it. It is the uncertainty of not knowing whether he is coming or going that is worse.

Oggy alway seems a bit bitter about him but apparently Lee Burge didn't have any technical weaknesses according to him against Sunderland.

I’m still not 100% convinced by Marosi. Yes a very good shot stopper and way above this level in terms of distribution. I think the defence has confidence in him and he has in them. But I don’t think he is confident on crosses from open play or corners. Today was his best all round performance and he did take a few high balls quite comfortably...more of this please in the run in. As the going gets tough and possible nerves kick in then his influence will become ever greater.

Maybe he isn't great at coming for corners or crosses (not seen much compelling evidence of that) but it isn't a massive problem as long as his defenders can predict what he'll come. The problem is with Burge they couldn't.

The one at Walsall was where I gave up all hope. Turned the game off, checked 30 mins later, saw we’d actually lost. That was when I decided it was enough and he had to go!

Yep, likewise. Had another bit of a flurry where mistakes were less but eventually they came back out of the closet again. It was definitely time for him to go and I think Robins knew this too if we were serious about making progress.

I still suspect that Oggy took retirement instead of being moved on as MR wanted to go for a keeper that played the ball and Oggy is more of a traditionalist. His comments about Marosi on CWR don't dispel my suspicions.

I am fully expecting a Marosi howler tonight after a thread (rightly) created to suggest how good he has been this season. I will fully blame the OP for this.

Have to say I wasn't convinced when he was announced in the summer. I'll admit I didn't know much about him but it sounded like a he was going to be more of a lateral step at best from Burge as opposed to an improvement... but I'm so glad I was wrong. He's been one of my favourites this season and maybe our best signing. There's been some mistakes here and there but I fully expect that in League One. I'm sure there'll be a couple more this season too but it's been a long time since we've had a keeper this reliable and it's been a massive boost.

This potentially won us the game on Saturday...

Not only that he's so quick off his line. As soon as he notices Fadz is beaten he's on the attacker, doesn't give him a moment to think.

not sure being quick off the line is a guarantee of quality m8, if Robins put me in goal I'd leg it so fast it would make Marosi look like Kevin McDonald

There was a comical moment when we beat Grimsby 4-0 in League 2. Haynes shanked a clearance high into the sky and towards the box. Burge sprinted out like a lunatic and collided into the backtracking Haynes. Their player got a cross in and we just about got enough bodies back to clear a shot off the line.

Compare that to what we have now in those positions, thank fuck

Yeah definitely judged too soon. Saw him against us for Doncaster and wasn't impressed, then I still have my jaded view of Coventry having the pull to bring in "bigger names." Again was happy to be wrong!

Really highlights how poor burge was

Marcos Is worth at least 15 points more over a season than burge

Could well be the most important signing we made pre-season. He's had such a run of consistency of late, pulled off some crucial saves.
