Yeah but the holidays ...I started out on 22k and ended up on just over 50k about 6 years later. Money was never the problem with that job.
I do miss the ‘union jollies’ as Grendel put it though.
Yes all my interactions with Muslims are 2nd or 3rd generation, through work or mutual friends and they are mostly pretty progressive,Without wanting to jump in too much on either side, all of the muslim people I know are sound, but equally all are 2nd and 3rd generation of living in western culture. I think there needs to be a division in your understanding, as the upbringing will affect the thought process.
First generation are brought to believe eg that women are second class, homosexuality is wrong etc and just like propaganda in places like Russia or North Korea, they know no different, because they've not been exposed, even to simple things like girls in education.
The same views apply equally in various Christian African nations to be fair. Take a look at where homosexuality is still outlawed.Without wanting to jump in too much on either side, all of the muslim people I know are sound, but equally all are 2nd and 3rd generation of living in western culture. That’s what I’m talking about. Paid time off to go to a hotel and eat on expenses while listening to various rants about the ToriesYeah but the holidays ...

It shall not be named. What did you stop doing mate?
I’m not allowed to sayWhat did you stop doing mate?

Agree but that's not what we're discussing. I think Grendel is largely correct in other countries and first gen here, over time that changes, but the 2nd and 3rd gen in western countries are tiny part of the total Muslim population and have far more progressive views. The same views apply equally in various Christian African nations to be fair. Take a look at where homosexuality is still outlawed.
I’m the worst sinner to paraphrase PaulLet’s be honest, Pete is one of the few people on here who comes close to actually behaving like a Christian despite however many others claim to be
That was part of the job description if that helps mateRuining my fun here.
My issue is with the smearing and stereotypes when really for much of history, the ‘Christian’ nations had similar beliefs and laws. It seems relatively recently there’s been a big gulf in social attitudes.Agree but that's not what we're discussing. It seems to me you're all arguing over semantics and refusing to see each other's angle. It's the same in almost every thread.
Im terms of perpetrators, there are exceptions and to coin one of my more common posts, some people are just cunts and nothing you can do about it really.
And certainly all Jews in Israel it’s a very secular society…and let’s not forget that not all Muslims are actually religious.
Death sentence in some African countries tooThe same views apply equally in various Christian African nations to be fair. Take a look at where homosexuality is still outlawed.
But we cant affect what people in history did or hiding behind any belief or religion. We can affect how we think and behave today. My issue is with the smearing and stereotypes when really for much of history, the ‘Christian’ nations had similar beliefs and laws. We do try to see others perspectives you do it very well others don’tAgree but that's not what we're discussing. I think they do see it, but choose not to engage. I actually think some (on both sides) fo enjoy the petty arguments. We do try to see others perspectives you do it very well others don’t
Also we can understand as we’ve been there and done the same things and until very recently realised that there were huge issues with the empire and slavery and medieval vengeful punishment for doing wrong thingsBut we cant affect what people in history did or hiding behind any belief or religion. We can affect how we think and behave today.
Maybe, I seek to learn others perspectives and value themI think they do see it, but choose not to engage. I actually think some (on both sides) fo enjoy the petty arguments.
And my point is it’s not only Islamic nations guilty of views we no longer hold. Perhaps our wires are crossed hereBut we cant affect what people in history did or hiding behind any belief or religion. We can affect how we think and behave today.
If your biggest fault is to be too trusting, I think you’ve done alright.I’m the worst sinner to paraphrase Paul
Thought you were more of a GBNews man when seeking out in depth, balanced 'journalism'.It was condemned by the Home Secretary and one of the items on the BBC news last night wasn't it?
‘The excellent Dan Hodges’Thought you were more of a GBNews man when seeking out in depth, balanced 'journalism'.
Okay, but what did John, George and Ringo think?I’m the worst sinner to paraphrase Paul
Stupid question.Simple question, do you genuinely believe that all two billion Muslims are the same?
Help me to understand why the mostly white ‘establishment’ seeks to defame white people all the time?So the guy who burnt down the Mosque was a Muslim.
Thought you were more of a GBNews man when seeking out in depth, balanced 'journalism'.
That George was very underrated?Okay, but what did John, George and Ringo think?
