Bollox?
What kind of rivalry do you think we will have with a side 2 levels below us? What's the chance of getting them in a cup?
Next season we're in the Prem. Our nearest rivals will be Villa. We will be their nearest rivals as they will be the only Brummie club left in the Prem. So for me the games I will be looking forward to will be against Villa. It's been too long since the last time.
You are welcome to continue your rivalry with a club that we probably won't play against for a long time if you like. There's even a chance we will never play them again with their situation being as bad as it is.
Very true, our under 23s might get drawn against them in the Checkatrade. We could quite easily be playing them again in a couple of seasons.
Truth be told I kind of forgot how much I hated them when we were playing League 2 and they were Champions League. I guess I assumed we'd probably never play them again so just parked it.They always were, and always will be rivals as far as I'm concerned, and plenty others, on both sides, feel the same.
I think it depends on your age a little as to who you view our rivals as, for me Leicester was a plastic rivalry made out of convenience. Villa have always been our true rivals. I honestly couldn't give a shit about Leicester, was always just another game.
I was talking to a Villa supporter just the other day who literally said he couldn't wait to reignite the old rivalry so again depends who you are talking to. I have also worked in Leicester by the way, again most didn't give a shit. How can you talk about rivalries being 'plastic' and then claim Villa are our true rivals?!
I've worked in Aston, I've worked in Braunstone and I'm currently working in Cov but for a firm where our sister facility is in Leicestershire, so I can definitely tell you who sees us as their main rival out of the two.

Have you seen how bad their finances are? Have you seen how poor their Prem players that are on up to 90k a week have been? Nobody is willing to take on these players at the wages they are on especially after how poor they have been.We could quite easily be playing them again in a couple of seasons.
There's this really strange phenomenon where people can feel differently about the same thing... I'm just saying how it is for me you can choose to agree or disagree but unlikely to change my mind. It was exactly the same with Villa, you have either forgotten or weren't there.Id never claim there's no rivalry. And it's definitely felt more by the support they draw from Warwickshire than those in brum.
But their main rival, by some distance is Blues.
And I'm not sure where you worked in Leicester, but that's not my experience, and many others would agree.
You don't hang flags from bridges and riot for teams you don't give a shit about
Do they try to fuck you?our sister facility is in LeLeicestershire

Braunstone FC ?How can you talk about rivalries being 'plastic' and then claim Villa are our true rivals?!

Unless you have loads of data to back up your "fact" you are putting opinion forward as fact there's a difference. I'm sure you would find fans with differing opinions just like we have on this thread. Having spent my whole youth singing SOTV a song deeply engrained in club culture it's just my view. You feeling different as an individual is personal choice. If you hate villa more, that's up to you.
But we aren't Villas main rivals and I doubt you'd find many Villa fans who'd say we were.
You'll find plenty of Leicester fans who say we are.
As for your forgotten or weren't there comment about Villa, I'm not sure, what you mean?
I've been a plenty of Villa games, plenty got spicy, but they still didn't see us as their main rivals, that's a fact.

Braunstone FC ?
No, just let them hang around the bottom 2 divisions for the next 25 years will doWhile I am very much enjoying seeing Leicester fall from their perch, I wouldn't want to see the club go under.

I do personally think it was a plastic rivalry yes it's my opinion. Just two clubs without their more natural rivals trying to make something. But in your initial post you referred to 'plastic rivalry'.
Villa don't see us as their main rival, so no matter how you feel about it, it's not going to change that.
Are you really going to dispute Villas main rival is Blues unless its backed up by data?!
I fucking hate Villa always have and always will but nothing will compare with my hatred for that lot down the road!Unless you have loads of data to back up your "fact" you are putting opinion forward as fact there's a difference. Newcastle didn't play Sunderland for years I suppose they weren't rivals either?Have you seen how bad their finances are? Have you seen how poor their Prem players that are on up to 90k a week have been? Nobody is willing to take on these players at the wages they are on especially after how poor they have been.
They used up the last of their parachute payments before the start of the season. That didn't keep them going for long. Everything they loaned came with interest of about 10%. They have a training ground that costs between 15m and 20m a year to run.
Their owner used to have a very profitable company doing duty free. Their best customers were Chinese where a lot of them would get a flight, but lots of designer items, then they would fly straight back. COVID hit them hard. They struggled to pay the high rents at the airports without customers. They still don't have most of their Chinese customers back. They only got to keep their business running by agreeing with lower rent but IIRC they have to hand over 36% of their profits to their landlords. So their income is much lower and they have to hand over a third of them. That's why their owner Top started taking massive loans off Macquirie bank at very high interest rates secured on their club.
It now looks like they will be going into administration minimum. You must pay all football debts or you get hit harder with a points deduction. Theirs is going up all the time by about 2.5m a week. Sheffield Wednesday look to be getting hit with another 15 points deduction for next season just because their new owners offer to take them out of administration didn't give Chansiri enough of his money back. This is on top of the points deductions they have already had. Leicester will be in this position. They could start the season with enough points deductions to already relegate them. And that's if they are lucky enough to get away with administration. If Macquirie bank calls in the debt and it can't be covered then they could be looking at going to the wall.
This isn't a full list of their problems. Playing against us for several years at least isn't looking likely.
My old football team once played against Braunstone in a cup competition; they kindly left piles of dog shit scattered around our 6-yard box.How can you talk about rivalries being 'plastic' and then claim Villa are our true rivals?!

That asset rich part, isn’t that what’s costing them the most? All the facilities costs are eye wateringIf honest though, if they went fully tits up and joined the 12 point deduction club, it wouldn't be to the same level as others detriment.
They would appeal to a large number of buyers that could reboot them under new ownership.
Modern stadium, elite level training facilities and quite an asset rich club.
It would be quite a different story to the likes of homeless us or a run down Hillsborough.
70 million losses last year is a shocking number, not least because they were in the prem last year and had prem money to play with. Problem for Leicester is they went full on Leicester and never expected to be ditched back down. Next years finance release based on this year could be eye watering levels of oh shit.
ThisDon’t want them to go under. Do want them to spend 25 years or so in the wilderness and being forgotten about, watching joker clubs like Bournemouth enjoy the limelight.
Oh yes, an absolute wheelbarrow of cash each week. That asset rich part, isn’t that what’s costing them the most? All the facilities costs are eye watering
Some fans when it gets "that" bad would probably welcome the chance of new ownership, Wednesday certainly did.I don't want them to go bust cos just like us they have normal fans who just love their club
It really does depend on your age.I think it depends on your age a little as to who you view our rivals as, for me Leicester was a plastic rivalry made out of convenience. Villa have always been our true rivals. I honestly couldn't give a shit about Leicester, was always just another game.
I dont think you ever went to a Leicester game in the 70s and 80s, some proper bad shit went on between the two clubs, it's called rivalry.I think it depends on your age a little as to who you view our rivals as, for me Leicester was a plastic rivalry made out of convenience. Villa have always been our true rivals. I honestly couldn't give a shit about Leicester, was always just another game.
It also touches on something I was told today, King Power itself is in the shit.
Oh well, the players have a big night out on the piss planned for the weekend, that should cheer their supporters up!
Robin's to the rescue? If honest though, if they went fully tits up and joined the 12 point deduction club, it wouldn't be to the same level as others detriment.
