Agreed, Bidders and Brau on the left did OK! Whole makeshift back-line a great effort. Lampard knows he's going to need a plan B at some point, he's getting to a position where he has one, though the RW position is still a bit of a joke if Saks isn't playing.

If we go back to before the season started we had a list of players that were not supposed to be good enough. So far not a single one of them has let us down. Even Brau played his part today not giving them a second on the ball and getting stuck in.
I thought Brau was very good when he came on, defensively occasionally out of position, but to be fair we were playing a 5 so he probably had more licence to move forward

Tough game to come in, but dealt with it no problem, organizing and communication was very good from him. He will be called on again and after that performance we have no worries in depth at CB.

Lati was very good today. Solid in the first half and much better in a back 5 which is where he is at his best, even if others are higher up the pecking order. Wolf looked tidy. Bidders did well. Mickey Brau looks a very interesting player.

Some of the pregame comments re Lati (and Wolf) in the match thread were unbelievable.

Anyone would have thought we'd brought them in from the Dog & Duck stiffs, rather than being a pair of experienced professionals....

Both played really well in a difficult game. Shows the strength and unity in the squad in my opinion.

I think it was appropriate that some people were sceptical. One hasn't played for months, the other has taken a bit of time to get started. You still get behind the team though.

There's no doubts that both of them played tremendously well, with an amount of team spirit and passion that really should have won anybody over. It's very inspiring.

A leader, a warrior, deserves all the plaudits from yesterday as he was outstanding. I do still worry about his pace though when he gets turned, but ideal as the spare man in a 5.

It's good that players coming into the side this season have all did well and not let us down. They come in and slot into the system really well. They know their roles, know the formation & tactics and slot in seamlessly. Big credit to Latibeaudiere and Woolfenden on Saturday and the subs that came on too (y)

He was a never a bad player. I actually thought he was amazing at Norwich away last season and was almost faultless bar the injury time brain freez moment. Which really tarnished his performance that day.

Think our low block adopted in 2nd half suited him to a tee. Fear for him when theres lots of space around him with pacey forwards.

Glad we didnt play with too high a back line.

I am sure there was many who feared the Southampton game including me, but he did well considering he hasn't played any first team minutes at all this season. Spoke well after the match too! Hats off to Wolf aswell, he had a great game too.

That second half was ideal for both Lats and Woolfy, neither had to leave the penalty box, so they were never going to be caught out for a lack of pace or mobility.

Also Southampton didn't have much of a aerial threat, so didn't cause us to much trouble other than set pieces.

Things might of been different if they had Adam Armstrong running at them from 30 yards out.

Having said that, they did everything asked of them excellently.

We played Armstrong out of the game. Hardly noticed he was on the pitch.

He had a glorious chance first half and really should of scored.
Second half there wasn't the room for him to use his pace as we sat back and put bodies behind the ball.

In hindsight they should of had a big centre forward to bring on to challenge for crosses as it became too comfortable for Lats and Woolfy to head everything away unchallenged. In the end they just resorted to hopeful long shots.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. They would be more dangerous with one but they don't have one.
