Just been looking and you can make a complaint about an approved planning application to the local government ombudsman as a third party but only about the administration, not the decision itself. JR3 here we come unless by some miracle it gets rejected.

not sure you got what I was saying. Wasps could go in using the existing facilities in place of the Academy from 01 July 2017. Once established there they could a year or so down the line start their planning application again. By that time there could be no CCFC Academy but certainly not one at AHC. Obviously a longer solution for Wasps but could be disastrous for CCFC academy

CSF have been there from the start managing the site. You would expect the AHC to say they were looking for something else at that time CCFC had moved out and were at least publically saying they would build their own. A swimming pool was mentioned too at that time

Interesting it said the U18 & U21 squads were training and based at Ryton

It also shows how CCFC quickly came up with a plan to relocate away from the Higgs without checking their facts adequately.

Not sure how its really relevant to Wasps planning application but you've got that slightly wrong:
1) It was Higgs who kicked up about the insurance. The company that was in administration and subsequently liquidated couldn't maintain an agreement for the academy to train at Higgs, how would that work?
2) CCFC were doing the maintenance weren't they but the maintenance equipment was supplied by Higgs. When that needed replacing Higgs wanted the club to pay for replacement equipment, the club said it wasn't in their agreement.

That's what I said wasn't it? Its all in the article I linked.

But Wasps have 16 other sites that they have chosen to keep confidential so that nobody else can make use of them. Would you not think if there was an issue with Higgs they would make use of one of them.

Of course that might all be PR and it was going to be Higgs all along :jawdrop:

Exactly, if it didn't work there they could just use one of the other sites they found.

Indeed. If you speak to pre sisu directors the person they site as the most difficult and objectionable was not the local council.

Just here say and opinions of course.

I can totally understand who that might be, which adds to the fuel that it was only ever going to be the Higgs..

They could make do at AHC by moving in with their first team and Academy. They wont go build one elsewhere because it will cost more. Once they have their first team there and especially if the Wasps Academy is there then they may find it easier to get planning permission another time. You get back to special circumstances of a sporting academy on green belt, but with a precedent of it having been done before

Bottom line whether the intention was this or that whether planning gets approved, deferred or rejected the Academy remains under threat

Just thinking out loud really and not liking what I am hearing

So it was PR who knows - that's not going to be much comfort if we end up with no Academy

This is not "lip service" or the club "clutching at straws" - it is a robust legal argument based on specialist planning advice, in response to previous (belated) correspondence.
It's a shame it has probably come too late for this reason to make a difference tomorrow, but it is a national scandal that only unsuccessful applicants can appeal against refusal of planning permission, and there is little recourse to appeal unjust decisions - other than via a JR or referral to the LG Ombudsman.

You can't deny that Tim is trying

But their the richest team in Europe and aren't even paying for this themselves, they're after a sponsor.

Would think there would be FOI's flying in all over the place trying to see who else they had spoken to....

Probably because they've been clever enough to not say who they're talking to. The brains of our bunch kept setting themselves up for a fall on that one insisting that they were talking to councils, environment agency and highways agency claiming that you were doing impact statement's etc when nothing could be further from the truth. How many times did they set themselves up for that fall? More than once wasn't it?

No Tony they said conversations hadn't got as far as to look at a FOI and all details are commercially confidential.

My opinion is they looked at one site only.

Which is pretty much what you said they'd done. In stark contrast to how our lot went about it.

No they've not looked at any other sites in my opinion.

My opinion also is they were promised the centre when they agreed the deal for the Ricoh as they had to have a training ground in the area and never spend their own money on anything.

My other opinion is the City if Rugby initiative (something you were very supportive of) was actually created for one reason. So it could be a sponsor for the development in conjunction with the building of a 50 metre pool that even the council acknowledge will lose money.

In my opinion the City of Rugby initiative will then vanish.

Let's see shall we.

Well it does show they have at last done some homework. But still clutching at straws in my opinion , I get the feeling its just Lip Service from the club :jimlad:

It's a sad state of affairs that we are indeed "clutching at straws" like this. If Cat. 2 status was such a big deal then they would be the masters of their own destiny. They hark back to things that happened over ten years ago...maybe they need to look at what past custodians of CCFC have done to the club to put us in this position!

SISU are not to blame for all of the problems. However, they over very few solutions that move the club forward!

The club are merely tenants wherever we are, whatever aspect of the club. We own nothing. So we can hardly go around issuing demands!

People may criticise Wasps all they want but the fact that they own things and are looking to invest in things really shows our owners up.

They aren't investing though are they?

I suppose with all the nonsense you spout you'll have to be right sooner or later.

They've put more money into the Ricoh than CCFC. I'd call that investment.

If they spend whatever up at the Higgs then that too is investment.

All we do is rent (and fall out with landlords!)

LOL, I wouldn't be too sure. Another batch of estimated facts contradicting published statements or based on pure supposition.

What people really should be asking is the wisdom and reasoning to build an Olympic pool. The cost of this is £14 to £20 million and no response as to who is funding

At the same time £36 million is spent on a pool complex at the sports centre the profits (assuming 1.5 million visitors a year) which will offset losses made there.

It's pretty obvious what's going on and rather than complain about attending meetings people should see the bigger picture.

Remember at one point a certain person said Tim fisher was the best CEO the club had had in 20 years. It's quite a revealing statement when you think about it.

Really, do you think if we add up our initial outlay, rent and matchday costs it would be less than Wasps have put in?

So is that including the money SISU don't pay up?

Chiefdave, I'm aware of your views on Wasps and the way you like threads degenerating into anti-Wasps.

I certainly don't want this thread to be like that. But I do think whatever this cost Wasps: http://www.wasps.co.uk/news/article/2014/11/14/wasps-confirm-100-shareholding-in-the-ricoh-arena

Is more than SISU have spent. After all, they did withhold rent hey, but you do like to ignore that point!

Speaking of ignore. I'm going to ignore your desire to try to slag off Wasps at any opportunity!

If you look at my original point I was saying SISU don't invest enough in the club. If however you feel they do then we have far different expectations and desires for this club!

Do you wear night vision goggles as you are so far up wasps arse?

They haven't actually spent any money on any of those areas other than the pitch and tarting up the bars.

Keep whoring for them though.

nice twist, he didn't say he thinks they do did he?

He was saying ccfc have invested more.

It was 1.2m a year plus match day costs wasnt it?

He didn't mention sisu, he said we as in the club.

Wonder where they were taught that?....
Still waiting to hear about all the local sites Sisu looked at?

I can't believe some are being negative about this letter. Yes it might prove futile but at least its positive action. All cov fans should be up in arms over this.

Reading that letter I was struck by the fact it took 8 pages to make essentially 3 cogent points.

1) Sport England statutory response re loss of playing fields is incomplete
2) Failure to consider implications of effect of CCFC Academy which was essential part of previous planning justification.
3) Negative effect on elite sport and associated investment in City if Academy can't continue

I might add that barn has a big negative impact on the green belt, huge monstrosity that infills yet more green space, that outdoor pitch is nice, I noticed CCFC development tweet many pictures showing it being used by young academy members.

Anyway, I think 100% there will be a delay while the politicians figure out what they can get away with.

I think it's a very good letter. Clear in its points, calm and rational for the most part. Can't help but think they should have avoided use of the word 'perverse' though, just because it comes across as a little aggressive.

Oh Nick. Seriously. Where do you get off?

So you think the investment in CCFC is adequate?

I'm seriously done with this forum. You, Grendel and Chiefdave seriously try to turn everything thing into a pro-SISU, anti-Wasps thread!

NOPM. Not one prick more!

Delete my account! At least folk on the CET comments section aren't all as blinkered as you!
