On the 4 month contract point is it posible that TM didn't have enough left in the kitty to sign him any longer at this point and is hoping that the kitty get's a boost ahead of the January window at which point he will get a longer contract? Either that or he's just cover for Maddison.

Or we just want to see how it goes like we did with Stokes?

If we are ot of cash we shouldnt see anymore players coming in. I dont think this is the case and we should see a few more faces once the loan window opens.

On the face of it, we got rid of a player the Manager doesnt rate, didnt sign and clearly wont really use, and have freed up his wages, whilst bringing in another player that he clearly does want and appears to have something to prove, possibly to get and extended contract, or if not will go in the next transfer window when he can be replaced.

Seems a positive outcome to me.

Could be right with the Stokes camparison.

Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting were out of cash, rather just a case of TM only having enough free cash to offer a 4 month contract at this point as other cash is ear marked for wages on loan deals. I do expect more signings to come in.

I'd lean towards it more being an extended trial period for a player who could go either way than anything with constraints, although it's a complete guess of course.

Just read the CET article. I like him already as he seems to have asked for the chance himself and not via an agent

If there's one profession other than footballer that's greedy, selfish, and get over inflated wages / bonuses it's bloody agents!!

and Hedge Fund owners of course.

Have a word Tony. He's on extended trial to prove himself.

Pressley brought him in originally, didn't he? Anyway, he never even got on the bench and was only here a couple of months, so we can hardly have a go about that.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31989187

most players are only here a couple of months.

Doesn't it show how poor he much have been to not even get on the bench? He was hardly "one for the future"

More Lateef goals

More goals from Lateef when he was a youngster at West Brom, for Tranmere and England - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu6iVTUIYYQ

Apparently he has got rave reviews in training and could actually be Tony's next diamond. I am starting to really enjoy Tony's transfer policy, it is so refreshing how he wants to develop players and not pay top dollar. In Tony we trust PUSB

The Maltese league is genuinely horrendous though. I remember reading a striker who scored 30 odd goals in that league came over to England and didn't even get offered a contract from a part time team.

Wasn't the famous Kurt Drago supposed to come from the Maltese league?

Then again, who knows he might have been great. SP in his wisdom decided he wouldn't get a chance to prove his worth.

I think there isn't any greater disrespect shown towards a person than to compare him or her to a failure. Everyone should be given a chance off their own potential and then accessed. TM and this young man don't have anything to prove to you or me other than they work for the club we support.

He may be the next John Brimley or the next Lionel Messi, who knows, but give him the respect he deserves.

It's typical doom and gloom from some on here. Don't judge a player until you see him play for us. Until then people slagging him off really need to get off players backs.

You have to trust TM with the signings he makes. We all know we have a limited budget and so far TM has recruited wisely.

Mifsud wasn't good - people just think he was because he scored 2 against United. His goal scoring record in the Championship was 1 in every 5 games.

Quality under Dowie when he was playing upfront/wing or as part of a 433, Coleman ruined him by playing him wide in a 442.

Mifsud's record overall was patchy, but that spell in late 2007 was as dangerous as any forward I can remember playing for us. I'd take that again in a second.

my dad met him whilst on holiday in malta once(his agent) and he was like "enjoy him while you can,hes moving to premier league soon", to bolton i think he said it was.

he left cov and then ende dup doing nothing pretty much.

Didn't he fuck up the chance to go to Bristol City as he was messing them about and asking for more and more cash?

We can't really judge TM's signings yet... They have had 6 games this season... Another 40+left...
Tudgay, nouble,Swanson, Miller etc. all started last season well, then faded...
Need to wait to judge TM's signings tbh...

True, but we could tell straightaway with many of the signings of Coleman, Dowie, Boothroyd and Thorn that they were poor. Not had this feeling with any of TMs just yet.
