So we know that Doncaster, Ipswich, forest, Swansea are all playing in council owned stadia and stoke bought the ground of a council and a regeneration charity.

So - who out if a of us got the worst deal?

Coventry City got the worst deal we are the only ones with SISU as the owner and Grendel as a fan.

Huddersfield pay £1 million a year. There stadium is not as good as ours.

because nobody asked for it through the proper negotiation channels certainly SISU didn't complain when they took over

The rent wasn't to high as It was agreed by both parties. In fact the more expensive rent option was taken up by the clubs owners at the time
It is not up to ACL to approach CCFC to renegotiate for less. When ACL were approached they agreed for the club to pay less.

I didn't agree with the no further negotiations policy. And the move to try to force us into admin has proved disastrous. ACL have a high percentage of blame in this mess too.

The report had revealed that the club are in talks with the Arena Company, which owns the new stadium, with a view to lowering the £1 million rent to £500,000 while they are in the Championship and rising to £1.5m if and when the club gain promotion

I imagine the answer would something along the lines of "FU .... we have just bailed you out by paying for the stadium which you couldn't afford, and now you want us to subsidise you as well?"

Swansea may have a better deal but.....
The Welsh Audit Office commissioned a report on The Liberty Stadium. The stadium finances have come under scrutiny and a PWC report for the Welsh Audit Office in 2011 (which I can't find online) stated that the way it is financed is unsustainable.

"financial position of SSMC remains precarious and the current revenue sharing arrangements are considered unsustainable". It also reveals that Swansea Council made a further loan to the SSMC in 2005, for £2.6 million, which it later wrote off, even though auditors "were not aware of any reason why such a loan could not have been sought from a commercial lender".

interesting that the protagonist starts a thread he knows will piss people off then goes away. Also not a SINGLE post on a 24 page thread on the JR being kicked out of court.

On the Doncaster ground, i don't know the rent they pay but it holds 15231, half the size of the Ricoh. it is also shared by Doncaster rugby league club. so not really fair to but on a comparison list is it. as the rugby club would be paying their far share of rent too

tbf it's only from one perspective - that of the club's.

However, it does suggest SISU aren't the first to ask the question without actually getting an agreement. Why? I have no idea, many possible reasons (as there are at present).

But... it raises questions about whether a deal has ever been there to be made under 'normal' negotiation. I don't know the answer (Robinson was a shit after all - if an unimpeachable shit) but the question probably still needs asking.

Think Geoffrey Robinson asked about a rent reduction which I suspect is the one mentioned there. Not sure ACL had the finances to offer a reduction back then but happy to be corrected.
Sisu made no serious attempt to negotiate the rent deal it was in the Trust Q&A.

They took on a stadium that was losing money despite all the tenants paying their agreed rent. Can't remember the exact figures but it was something like 300k the council lost each year and Rovers were paying the same in rent. The stadium naming rights were included in those figures, so even if they managed to stem the losses through concerts etc. they still had to contribute their £300k.

400 k was a reasonable rent IMO. Why should they have negotiated further after the club agreed to the rent then refused to pay?

As for forcing us into admin.... Please, we weren't paying our bills and then we threatened to liquidate the company. ACL had little choice. Let's not forget we also chose not to pay the charity for the academy bills either.
