The big factor is is he is out of contract at the end of the season, all parties will know this, Mowbray, Fleck obviously, his agent and any interested club, it's the world we live in nowadays, I am sure TM would want to keep him, most improved player we have currently. But if Fleck has indicated he is off I am sure Mowbray will know.

I think I'll wait until we have more than someone heard something in the casino before I start worrying about him leaving.

Do you know I ain't worried that much, the players we now have we can still put a tip top midfield out

Worrying if he does go. I'm hoping it'll be in the Telegraph; that would ease my mind a bit.

That is the only option really, he could move for free now he is 24, unless he was offered a contract and did not accept. I guess that is what happened.

As the season ends, and clubs begin their recruitment drive for next season, I am increasingly asked (whether in respect of players that we act for, clubs that we advise and work with or – mostly – out of idle curiosity) how the compensation system works. Where a professional player, under the age of 24, has been offered a new contract by his club (subject to certain requirements that the offer must meet set out in Rule 64.3 of the Football League Rules) and he rejects that offer in order to take up the opportunity to sign for another club, compensation will be payable.

I have seen figures on this thread relating to flecks value being in relation to twice his remaining salary and some that estimate his wage... Just as a note it appears these figures, even the more conservative ones, are wildly over stated against the average league 1 players salary!

The average league 1 player gets paid shy of £70k!

There is a huge gulf between league 1 and the championship which is just shy of £200k.

From this twice his remaining contract would value him at 70k, whilst I believe the jump in the money offered in the championship would form an incentive.

As another thought, why would he sign a new contract with us while he is in league 1 at perhaps 90k (above average by over 20%) when he could review his options and maybe even sign back with the sky blues at £200k if we were to be promoted?

I don't think we can read too much into things when we beat these figures in mind.

All depends on how desperately hull want him. Losing him could cost promotion, so that will put the figure up plus hull still get Parachute Payments I think, so you could be looking at £300-400k.

Wolves wasted 1m on having Best for cover so it depends on how much someone would want Fleck at this stage of the season.

According to one certain ex-player of CCFC, 'Hull are a bigger club than Coventry City. Everyone can see that.'

This was our first season in the 2nd tier and Hull were in the 4th....

Craig Bellamy..... You're a prophet. If only we'd taken note of your mystic words way back then

This is simply a loose rumour - looking at a statement today from Steve Bruce at Hull he says (So Im going to ignore this particular piece of gossip) -

Bruce does not believe he needs to make many alterations to his squad to boost the club's hopes of an immediate return to the Premier League.
"There's nothing imminent at the moment and we will do out upmost to keep the players we've got," he added.
"I'm very, very happy with what we've got.

He turned 24 in August and it is probably why he only signed a 1 year extension last year. It is my understanding he will just become a free agent at the end of the season as a result.

This is why his value is so low - not because of his ability, but due to the fact he is out of contract and can walk for nothing in a few months. Other clubs know this and whilst they will have to pay a small premium to get him now they can just wait a few months and pay no fee. The question is do you stick or twist with Fleck...my gut feeling says we need to hold on to him as I would value him well over 1m if he had a long contract signed...

Fleck knows he is worth more than we can currently offer him and we probably know that too but can't afford it unless we get promoted. So I guess it suits both parties to wait and see where we are at the end of the year. But if we got a silly offer for him now then we would have to strongly consider it. That's life I guess!

He also hasn't really produced for us until this season, either. There are shades of the Mills, Hughes and Guðjónsson here.

He is probably one of the highest paid players at the club. Would not surprise me if he was earning in the region of £150k.

You've also got to factor in the agreement we made with rangers so they didn't try to sue us. It's likely that the sell on clause is higher than a normal transfer.

In which case selling him would be pointless unless we had someone else to bring in on a slightly higher wage that was better than him...

Unless it is over a million.
You would be better off keeping him and letting him go for a free.
Promotion is worth 5 million in tv rights alone.

The club will be capable of achieving promotion without Fleck.

He isn't that pivotal and given the new regime is certainly replaceable.

Why take the risk for less than a million.
Can't see us getting more than 200k if his contract is up in the summer to be honest.

Because if a player wants to go he goes. Also as I have already stated on here the rumour always was that we wanted to sign Bigiamara and Cole as his replacements and his sale will fund this.

So if I am so wrong in my assessment of those two sacrificing fleck is a no brainier?

We swap a league one player for two with far superior talent and get a fee?

Win win.

Tbf I haven't been his biggest fan, but he has been pivotal this season, and would be a big loss that could cost promotion. He would be replaced by Bigi who is nowhere near as good.

I think he is a good addition to our squad. However lose Fleck for £200k to pay Cole and Biggi's wages?

I'm out.

Never really understand when clubs accept low offers as oppose to thinking of the importance that player could have on your clubs future.

Selling the Juke when facing relegation. Crazy gain around 750k lose 5 million.

If you sell Fleck for £100-200k and risk promotion again crazy.

Unless of course it is TM (not Fleck) asking for the sale.

TM will get sacked or praised by such decisions so fair enough.

Not really because we signed 3 players on his sale and one was pivitol in a marginal improvement.

Also we didn't sack your mate which always made relegation a certainty.

We had the worst manager in the club's history, which was probably the main factor.

I hardly think he is the only one to back it up.

Everyone other than you admits he was a fat lazy useless c**t we should have booted before Christmas that year.
