Pretty solid summary of it all really.

Again, a lot of people are attacking his thoughts on this as they're scared to be called racists and want to show the world that they aren't by shouting about it.

By all means one can say they're happy with how London has gone, but to deny it altogether is just odd. I for one don't feel like London is in my country. It feels like a different country when I go there.

If you just watch the video there really isn't much to argue with.

If there was you would have done so already.

That puzzles me greatly. You don't feel like London is in your country?

So much of the centre of London is so quintessentially English. The Tower of London, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, all the museums and galleries, Hamley's, Fortnum and Mason and Selfridge's, all the theatres, Buckingham Palace etc. etc.

We go to London a lot and travel all over London for my daughter's auditions and castings and it still all feels like London to me. Just with more foreign voices.

But in Coventry you also hear so many different languages nowadays.

Quoting a few tourist attractions doesn't change anything.

Having a few foreign voices isn't an issue. Having British people as a minority in their own capital is in my view.

So much of it is a dump and so much of it looks nothing like England. Go out and explore it. If you did, you wouldn't be able to come back on here and pretend as if it's all teacakes and polo.

It's such a non issue argument. Old man complains things have changed, who gives a shit. Some people like London and others don't, who gives a shit.

No, why would I?

The Ancient Brits were a Celtic tribe but no-one is certain what they looked like and they didn't inhabit the whole of the British Isles.

(But you probably knew that already being the expert on ethnicity you clearly are?)

You obviously didn't read my post. We go for auditions all the time.

They are all over, all over London. Every area and nearly always not central London.

If you name a place I bet we have been to an audition there. And we nearly always have to walk through areas too to get to the location we need to be.

Actually most Romans that settled here were recruits from the rhineland and gaul but I get what your saying

London has never been about tea-cakes and polo. It's never been posh either, in the places where the people who work for a living live anyway. Anyone who thinks that it isn't and hasn't always been multi-cultural has obviously never lived there.

Let's be honest here, your real definition of non-British is has a funny accent and/or is non-white, and or expresses attachment to a religion you don't like. Whether they've got citizenship, or the right to work here, or even were actually born here isn't what you actually think of when you think of someone as being 'British', is it? C'mon, be honest now...

I think he's right, I don't like London, I think it's a shit hole, we should have closed the border immediately after brexit, and only taken in people with skills we need.

The problem is that the youth of today think they're too good to work in factory's, cleaners etc, so unfortunately there is a need for unskilled workers from the continent.

I don't think saying you probably think this country was originally Anglo Saxon is laying claim to bring an expert. It was actually a paraphrasing of your post so as usual you're wide of the mark.

True. I took that to be the inference.
I could be wrong and he could be including white Europeans, which makes it all the more hilarious that ESB and Dutchman are agreeing with him.

Why do you hate your own country so much?

Common or not common, it doesn't matter. An abundance of halal butcheriours, knife crime and acid attacks are not what you would call a forward thinking and progress society.

I don't care where you come from, but if the mother culture is lost from a place, it isn't that 'place' anymore. A lot of people who are not from the UK have moved there and have started taking liberties. How can you deny that?

London as well as many other parts of the UK have lost their way. People like you have contributed to that but criticising anyone who doesn't like this as 'racist'.

Pathetic.

No, because the lefty crew shout racist and you follow suit. You're better than that.

He moved to the Caribbean and said how lovely all the black people are there. Sounds very racist to me...

It also doesn't invalidate his opinion either. As you know, my missus is Slovak and has said London doesn't feel like England.

If you like it, fair enough. If you don't, it should be ok to have that opinion too.

It's not lack of knowledge.
Carribean islands are mainly inhabited by afro carribean. John Cleese isn't one so he's being hypocritical when making comment about non indigenous Inhabitats of London.
I am aware of what Europeans did in the carribean, though no expert. But for the purpose of this debate surely we're talking about the current dominant ethnic group? Same with reference to the UK?

Yes, there is in the centre. Many of the suburbs are dreadful. Worse than anything around our patch. I lived for many years in South London in the 1980s and for short periods in seven sisters, Hammersmith and bethnel green.
What John cleese has said was as true then as it is now. It's also extremely deprived in huge areas, but you never hear about it. Hammersmith and Fulham sounds quite affluent but much of it is extremely poor, and there's far, far worse.

In the late 40s you'd have referenced a Jewish area.
In the 50 and 60s you'd have referenced a black area or an Irish area.
Different era, same rhetoric, same undertones.

No it's hypocritical considering he's moved somewhere where he's in the minority and is himself an immigrant.
May be he is racist ist, I don't know though I doubt it but he is a hypocrite.
