Just saw a new report on SSN with him talking about the move. The report said he had offers from the Championship and abroad and he said he wanted to come to a team who played good football and didn't want to go to a 'struggling Championship side who just hoofed it'.

On another note, did his 35 days start on Friday or yesterday?

Yesterday I would think, it was announced Friday but he signed Monday.

I would guess closer to £35m than £18. Even we will be paying more than £18 a week

I've read the CET article about the issue with his wages. My take on this situation is as follows... he clearly has no future at Vile - they are happy with him being cup tied. We can't afford to pay stupid money for his wages - also this would likely annoy the top earners at the club, so it's a "loan" deal. We are splashing out some of the spare gate receipt money on the deal, hoping that the uplift in ticket sales for the rest of the month can justify extending it and sending Villa a bigger proportion of his wages to extend the deal... if we go up we should have enough income to make it permanent if it was agreeable to all parties next year...

Heres to hoping anyway! Bottom line, people wanted to see investment in the team - I know it is a loan signing, but it is investment - investment in all the youngsters at the club that are going to be buzzing to learn from him. If there are any people on the fence left about getting down the Ricoh lets hope this is what is needed.
