We will have money my point is these people saying we don’t won’t be in the know,I’m sure robins would have kept Some back for January
It's highly likely we don't. We prepared for both scenarios in terms of fans coming back into grounds and fans staying away all season. Given that the latter scenario has happened it's likely we have little to no money for additions - unless Joy is willing to inject cash.

A half hearted link from a Twitter page that's known to be hit and miss doesn't prove your point.

I have been through this with you, in the last three seasons we haven’t signed a player permanently in January other than Chaplin which was already agreed as part of the loan. It will be a loan but there is only room for 1 more in the squad. Free agents? But that comes with a risk

There is nothing to support Robins is bluffing and sitting on funds to get 3 or 4 new signings in

I agree with you STP but you do usually need a bit of money to finance loans to cover at least part of the wages

Free agents can be brought in on trial so you can see how bad the rustiness is. Looking at the list there’s no decent strikers but quite a few central midfielders who would bring experience as well as know how

Still think we will sign a player for me it’s crucial to survival that we do

I think adding to the squad is 50/50 some might have to go out first and in the current climate thats iffy. Depending on Marosi Clamp could leave which perhaps leaves a wage. We though need someone asap and not wait until the end of January there’s a few crucial fixtures before then.

Will be a few teams scrabbling around for loanees. I can't see the free agents being very popular, as it is likely to take them ages to get up to speed, and clubs want an instant return, Andre Green is the only one I'd be vaguely interested in (but doesn't really fit in with our system)

I think we will bring a player in. I've said previously we'll probably bring in at least one loan but that doesn't mean we're not broke. You saying otherwise doesn't miraculously make it less true.

Most pundits and journalists are predicting that it's going to be a quiet window so despite us needing reinforcements (I personally have a AM, CDM, ST on my wish list) I just can't see us signing any more than one, maybe two. I also think our business is potentially dependant on whether Robins is able to move on players which is far easier said than done as even if in the hypothetical scenario that football clubs weren't in a complete financial black hole who would take them? In normal circumstances it's more than likely we would have to pay to get them off the books.

Considering our finances, the lack of anyone over 25 in midfield and Kelly being gone for months, I can’t think of many better alternatives
I’ve asked him why not mate but it’s gonna be about 45 min before we get a reply the guy loves a paragraph 😬

Our squad in general is very light on experience particularly at this level. Huddlestone has that, good on the ball and still keen to play. Wouldn’t hurt at all to at least offer a trial

What I was thinking, maybe offer an extension clause if we stay up. Yes these players need time to get fit but even initially just coming off the bench for a half hour gives us better options.
My worry is he won’t get fit coming on in the 87th min 👀

Even if in the event we offered Huddelstone a short term contract and he accepted, it's not unreasonable to predict that by the time he got up to speed Kelly would be fit. Especially when you take into consideration he hasn't played for nearly 12 months.

So, considering our finances, I couldn't think of a worse signing.

I personally can't see us dipping into the free agent market. There's too much risk involved given our financial situation and it goes against Robins' model. We've attempted at bringing in 'experience' before and we're all well acquainted with how that turned out.

There's usually a reason why a player is a free agent. In the circumstances signing Camp made sense but otherwise I would steer clear of this route. Let's not forget Yakubu.

This is a position where we really need it. Not every player over 30 can just be written off because our general model is about younger players. Who do you suggest we go for?

I suggest we do. He's now nearly 40. We were one of only two teams he played for without ever scoring and its almost 6 years since he last scored. Come to think of it, he may be one of the very few players the "Worth a punt" brigade don't want to sign! ;-)

It's a position we need certainly to bolster and I'm not writing every player over 30 off. It's clear as day that we require experience desperately and in an ideal world Robins would have the means to bring in a player of this ilk. But gambling what little budget we have left - if we have any at all - on an unfit 34 year old who hasn't played for nearly a year is completely illogical. Not every player over 30 can be written off but in the same breath we can't just go for any 30+ year old.

For experience? I couldn't tell you. I wouldn't touch the free agent market as in my opinion it'll likely take weeks, maybe even months for them to get up to speed - depending on how long they have been out of the game. Perhaps we could enquire into players who are surplus to requirements at Championship clubs. Unfortunately our options are limited for this category as wages are likely to pose a problem and you have to contend with the obvious - why is it that they're unwanted. E.g. Too many players in front of them in the pecking order or just simply their career is on a downward trajectory.

I've consistently said that our only feasible option (unless Robins and the backroom staff are able to pull a rabbit out of the hat) is to sacrifice experience and bring in a PL loan. Someone like West Brom's Rekeem Harper would be ideal but I believe Celtic might be lining up a deal for him. Or Brighton's Jayson Molumby who played around 40 times for Millwall last season.

Only issue with loans is I wonder how many more we're allowed to make and even then of course we won't be the only club after the decent ones. Up front it's even harder to think of options other than asking Joy for a few quid. With free agents the ball is at least much more in the club's court and you can stack the contract in your favour. Easier to get a bit more bang for your buck in central midfield than up front I think
