International call ups (6 Viewers)

It's a nice problem to have for some of our players. You have the real potential to be part of a championship winning team, a promoted team, Premier League football next season and World Cup place.

Haji, EMC, Lati, BTA, JDS... all have the potential to have an unbelievable 2026, I'd imagine the best of their careers. I just hope this last Int break goes as well as it can.

A little annoying Onyeka is going out as Nigeria are not in WC.

Be like when Prem players are 'injured' for friendlies but then miraculously overcome the injury for the next club game.

Boys and girls, we are finally hitting the big time!!

Surely EMC and Lati will fly back in first class, sleep all the way back and sleep Thursday if they have to, should be ok for the Friday game. 🤔

Lati made a Friday night game post international break against Hull a couple of seasons ago (and scored IIRC) so he might be alright

I'd imagine EMC will not be able to and will be saved for Monday. Eccles 10 and BTA left wing will probably be what we go with against Derby

With Woolfenden and Kitching available I just don't see FL taking a chance on Lati for the Derby game. He has been emphasising the value of the squad recently so it would make sense to utilise it in this instance.

Isn’t Rudi due back for Derby?

I'd throw Markelo into the fray if EMC needs a rest.

I have slept on a long haul flight. And I imagine our players won't be in the cheap seats with no leg room.

Nor was I - I was in business class and the longest was 15 hours - and the sleep was shit

Lack of sleep, highly tuned athletes even in business class is not optimal, then you’ve got natural travel challenges of body being run down etc. in addition to time zones.

so yes, why take risk?

It’s the combination of sleep and jet lag. It’s said that it’s easier to go east and come back west but I found it the opposite

I went to Japan once and went straight into work having landed and felt fucked. Going back not so bad.

Opposite for me when going to Brazil. Coming back I was shattered

It’s the time zones. South Africa was always fine.

East to west kills me. Whether I'm coming back from Asia, or flying to the US for work. I'll get there and struggle. In the gym at 5am every morning though, so that's something.

Some people can sleep like babies on planes. I've never understood how.

Exactly - not sure people appreciate this. So yes we could roll them out, but the risk of muscle injury likely huge% higher for example.

We can navigate Derby at home without EMC/Lati - or should be able to.

I don't sleep at all on planes. I remember once I was the only person awake outside of the people working on it.

Same. I was on one flight to Oslo after we had all been stuck in the terminal overnight as Gatwick was shut down due to bad weather. They flew us in the morning instead, with everyone having been awake all night. I was the only one not sleeping during that flight. The crew didn't even bother serving the passengers. Was very strange!

I found I could sleep OK and that was in the cheap seats.

Though I agree about which direction you're going in making a difference. Going to America I could get off the plane and just get on with things as normal and then sleep on US time straight away. Coming back I really feel the jet lag and it takes me a couple of days (or one long sleep) to get myself back in rhythm.

I guess what time of day you're travelling might make a difference as well.

They will have a full night's sleep on Thursday night won't they. 🤔
