Cool. So immigration based on either skills or a points based system.

"proposed"

It also kind of defeats the object when the vast majority of people I am on about enter the country illegally in the first place.

i mean asylum seekers are often running from the laws and society as in their original country thats kind of the point and how do you get here 'legally' if the government wants to kill you its perfectly legal to claim asylum wherever you want so lets drop the illegal immigrants their the ones that stay after there claim fails or havent claimed asylum or overstay visas so stop using uber just eat and the lick and thatll have more of an effect on illegal immigration

Here we have another man of fighting age fleeing his country, leaving his family behind, to seek refuge in another country.

Disgusting, we must stop this!

Tommy Robinson has claimed that he has fled the country because he is a priority target for terror group Daesh. Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, posted a video on X/Twitter, sharing what he alleges are conversations between himself and Bedfordshire Police. The video purports that police informed Robinson that a Daesh publication is “encouraging others to commit violence” against him.

I'm saying I don't want migration that won't ever be economically positive OR from cultures decades behind us.

People give it the doctors and engineers line to distract from a hotel or HMO full of Afghan / Somalian / Sudanese / Eritrean blokes with no intention of working or adapting to the UK culture.

It's non-comparable to somebody who goes through the legal channels .

Ok so this illegal legal thing is not helpful

You mean anyone coming in on a boat don’t you?
It is legal to claim asylum but at least say what you mean

Is that the immigration you are against?

Well of course, illegal immigration and again, people who have no intention of being economically positive or integrating into the UK.

I'd happy ship British people like that to Rwanda if I could.

There seems to be a lot of snide and sarcastic comments in this thread again.

Due to a series of terrible governments, unfair polices, tax strangulation and general decline of the country, many of those leaving are high earners that would be paying into the system. There are many here even on the left that have been talking about wanting to get out as well. How does the combination of that along with the importing of people who are not paying into the system help the country in any way?

This article is from yesterday, the country has become a complete joke.

There's no real way for them to tell unless you fill in a P85, which isn't mandatory. I left the UK in around 2021 and will not be part of those figures. The government are honestly clueless - look at the state of this: Home Office unaware if foreign workers leave UK after visas end, MPs say

If we don't know how many are leaving the country how can we possibly know this?

There was talk of a mass exodus of millionaires because... Starmer? But it never materialised.

It's just common sense really. If you get out and about, meet people that have left the UK, you would know that a lot of people that are doing so are the ones that either have flexible employment possibilities, or have saved up enough money to get out.

It really depends on what you want to qualify as a millionaire exodus, but a lot have gone. More will go as well with some of the tighter tax punishments that have come in/are coming in, including the abolishment of the non-dom scheme. This all doesn't just apply to millionaires anyway, as I have said above, the living standards in the UK are declining, who's actually happy there?

Because the left constantly have a go at people leaving, especially if they are critical of the levels of immigration and/or policies that have occurred in the UK.

Seems that is an outdated method, and they have updated the method for counting those who emigrate:

Implementing new methods for estimating the international migration of British nationals, progress update - Office for National Statistics

Overview of new methods for estimating long-term migration of British nationals using the Registration and Population Interaction Database (RAPID) data and revised time series for the year ending June 2021 to December 2024.

Yes, I am aware of RAPID - but no one really takes it seriously. There are so many loop holes and nets to fall through that it is effectively pissing in the wind. I have had this conversation quite a few times with border force (who are, without fail, bemused each time I tell them I haven't been living in the UK for 5 years). The simulations and estimates which this model uses are then built on dodgy data. Shit in = shit out. Even the ONS themselves admit that there is a degree of underestimation.

Why? If they've paid in all their lives why shouldn't they? I'd reduce it (probably 2/3 rate seems fair) as they'll be spending it in another economy and not reinvesting, but I do think they should still be entitled.

If they've paid in, and then moved to spend it elsewhere its their choice.

We need to keep cash flowing in our economy, not for people to spend in benidorm as they've retired there

Pretty much the only time people have a go at those leaving this country are because they are doing it to avoid tax. Especially when those people talk about 'patriotism'. If an older person wants to move to somewhere warmer in their old age, fair enough. If someone wants to move abroad because they have better work opportunities or family, again I don't blame them. Even those who want to move because it's a cheaper option for them, as long as those people realise that this country has given them the privilege to allow and enable them to do that.

It's others that have been happy to benefit from the relative wealth of this country as a market and the skills and technology it has access to enabling them to get rich, but when they are actually rich all of a sudden decide they don't want to contribute their fair share and fuck off. But nor do they want to lose those priviliges or share them with others. They want all the advantages this country gives but not have to provide towards it.

And it's not like it's a new thing. Before immigration became the go to excuse it was benefit scroungers that were the reason they wanted to go abroad. Basically they just want to find any reason to say why it's someone else's fault they have to pay tax and why they want to live in a tax haven.
