FFS well done for spectacularly missing my point !!!

I've assumed nothing!!!!!! My post asks why the link had been posted on the immigration and asylum thread when it was unconfirmed that he was an immigrant, but don't let that stop you trying to secure a couple of likes from the echo chamber.

I need a break from this place I think.
Fair enough.

This is what Farage et al want right?

UK migration could be negative this year
Only three years ago, annual net migration soared to almost 1 million. This year the number of people entering the UK could fall to such an extent that it drops below the number moving in the opposite direction, sending the figure for net migration below zero for the first time since 1993.

All our problems will be solved!!

The National Institute of Economic and Social Research, a thinktank, likened the effect to Brexit, saying that if net migration fell to zero, it would knock 3.7% off the UK’s annual national income by 2040

Oh.

Are you still trying to get confused about the different types of migration?

If the number comes down close to zero are all the people who have spent years complaining about high immigration now going to start saying it's just certain types of immigration that's been the problem all along, not the number?

We have had posts on here previously wanting zero net migration. If we in fact get not only that but net negative migration, happy days surely?

If it comes to pass though, I expect it will come from increasing numbers of people emigrating from the country, more than decreasing numbers of people coming in.

I have said multiple times over the years I only have issues with certain types of immigration.

It isn't moving the goalposts when you purposely try to merge things to ignore that

You would think so wouldn't you. And yet.

On your second point, 900,000 less immigrants this year compared with 2023.

Are we getting to the whole doctors and engineers thing again?

At least if we draft some Afghans in they have just legalised Domestic Violence.
We have also had people saying they don't even want doctors coming in if they're bringing in their wider family.

Nope I’m just asking you I know my opinion

So you are saying you don’t want unskilled migration

I'm saying I don't want migration that won't ever be economically positive OR from cultures decades behind us.

People give it the doctors and engineers line to distract from a hotel or HMO full of Afghan / Somalian / Sudanese / Eritrean blokes with no intention of working or adapting to the UK culture.

It's non-comparable to somebody who goes through the legal channels .

Wider family or close family? I mean Wider family could mean uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins etc as opposed to somebody wanting to bring their wife / husband and kids.

i mean asylum seekers are often running from the laws and society as in their original country thats kind of the point and how do you get here 'legally' if the government wants to kill you its perfectly legal to claim asylum wherever you want so lets drop the illegal immigrants their the ones that stay after there claim fails or havent claimed asylum or overstay visas so stop using uber just eat and the lick and thatll have more of an effect on illegal immigration

This is from a couple of years ago. Think we'd agree that your parents are close family.

Cool. So immigration based on either skills or a points based system.

......as proposed by this government last year👍
