IF i was AT i would hand in my notice how can anyone do a job with their hands tied.AT said after the last game at home when we gave in at a wimper to doncaster that he had been giving assurances that he would have a budget to get us back up.

Transfer embargo still ongoing
no budget agreed
no rent paid (no ground to play on next season)
no accounts filed

Will this nightmare ever stop.

I hope he doesnt

The current policy seems to be if an experienced person leaves in what ever role. We promote a new person from within.

So that leaves Carsley, Rioch, Oggy, I am running out now... Is Peake part of the backroom staff

Do any of them actually want it. Will they be any better than AT?

The man's got a job and a contract so why would he go? OK if another job offer comes in for him I'm sure he'd be tempted.. if by some miracle another owners comes in they would probably want their own man and he'll be paid off.. if not like the rest of us he'll probably just stick it out and make the best of it

He's not going anywhere. He's in a win win situtation here. Win games with a budget of nothing (which he won't); he'll get snapped up. Lose and SISU can't really point there finger as its there fault for not supporting him and they know it. Meaning, he'll continue to manager here and eventually walk away with a CV saying he had no support, yet he was fully committed to do his best for the club. Either way, he walks away with more then he had when he left.

If he was to leave now, he wouldn't get another job like this. I'm confident in that.

YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't agree more!

It is a debate that just seems to go round and round in circles.

It seems he is not going anywhere.
It seesm SISU do not want to sack him.
It seems if he does go, it is unlikely we would get the experienced manager, that the people who want him sacked crave.

So it seems to me this is a pointless debate, that never gets settled either way.

Personally I would rather focus our attention on trying to get the truth out of SISU, regarding the finances. I would like to make an informed decision as to whether they really do have no choice in the decisions they are making. Or if they could be making different decisions.

It wasn't the debate that I was agreeing with smiley about becoming tiring - it was the pointless "he's a liar, perfect SISU material" comment that the retort was aimed at! The debate's fine, although a bit tiring, but I have no problem with that.

Don't think he is in win win situation here myself.

AT got a fair bit of stick from fans last year and this season in League One, in spite of everything, the expectancy from many fans and bookies is that we can make at least a play-off challenge.

We struggle next season and Andy Thorn, rightly or wrongly, is going to get a lot of flak.

Don't think there is any doubt about that at all. Also, if he stays then surely he must be thinking he can still do a job with this squad. If he thought there was no hope he surely wouldn't stay would he?

I have a problem with the belief that we will do any better this season as compared to last whether or not we are a division lower or not .Morale last season was through the floor after the summer exodus and subsequent departures ,whether the malaise is induced by Sisu or AT or both who knows ,but they're both still here .You can't just magic up belief and morale there has to be some inducement to change it .It was a season of surrender from our owners ,surrendering ambition and stutus the club has faught for around 140 years to achieve /hang on to,just what has changed between last summer and this .
It could be argued that the players were unproffessional to let their heads drop but they are at the coalface ,many of us along with bookies saw it coming, they know the game and started the season in that mindset ,i hav'nt seen anything this summer to change that,if the start to the season mirrors the last AT's in for a hairy ride.:(

I don't know why people believe we are going to do better this season, Wingy, but believe it they do.

I'm not being critical here chaps but it seems based on the same perception as ten seasons ago, that we're dropping into a league of shitness where no one else has the means to compete as we're a big club dropping into a small pond and our superior player quality and status will phsycologically overwhelm them .

They believe it for the same reason that they did 10 years ago - we are a big club. Time has distorted the memory of some people on here. Contrary to belief Strachan and Richardson were not the Devils's incarnate upon relegation. One season Richardson even attracted a couple of votes as player of the season. However a draw against 9 man Forest and a defeat against Grimsby and reality set in and the mood changed. Strachan was gone and his best mate went soon after. So yes if we start with defeats against Yeovil, Bury, Stevenage etc. there will be a very different atmosphere and Thorn at last will enter the world of a football manager.

I still have vivid memories of Magnus sprinting 40 yards out of his goal, losing the ball, then Jevons scoring from just inside the half. Pathetic.

We really shouldn't be in danger of another relegation next year even with the handicap of SISU, I guess it depends on how much worse the transfer window becomes for us but we really shouldn't be getting relegated again.

Good point. The only thing I can think of for him staying, is like I said earlier. I can't imagine him getting another job like this anytime soon.

AT is in a good position IMO. He is newish to man-management & coaching - so he's only gonna get better. If we can keep him during his development stage it can only be good for us - he has no doubt learned loads during the delegation flight so operating at a lower level but developing further SHOULD reap benefits for us...unless he is absolutely crap - in which case we will be staring delegation in the face again!
