I was looking through the Spurs programme today and found proof of a tweet a I had seen the other day... 'Norwich charge £50 for an away ticket'.

Norwich to me is a Championship stadium, I'd never pay £50 to visit Carrow Road.

Sadly, for 90% of us on this forum, watching the Sky Blues in the Premier League would be just too much.

Would anyone really pay £58 to visit WHL?

I'd love to have the 'Premiership' lifestyle, but the money is ridiculous.
Why would anyone pay £58 to watch their team at WHL.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still get to as many as possible.
But, if we were playing Tottenham in the Premier League at £50+ a ticket, not even 10% of todays following would of gone.

I'd get a ST again if we ever did. Makes it cheaper and the chance of seeing quality players like Bale.

I'm sky blue through thick and thin but back in the day, albeit wanting a city win it was a pleasure to see players like bergkamp, Zola, ginola in their prime.

Tis a lot of dosh for the footy.
I wouldn't pay for many away games, if any at all based on them prices.
High ticket prices for fans are just a direct result of the ridiculas money that players get paid.
Unfortunately our very own Jimmy Hill had a lot to do with that

Cov wouldn't be 58 quid - it would be a Cat C at around 35 quid.

At that price I'd definitely go, mine would be less because I'd get it off my little bros ST!

To be honest how the club justifies charging over £20 for League 1 games is beyond me.

The realisation of top class sport becoming the privilege of The rich came at Arsenal this season. Highbury was a proper ground and the focal point of the community. As amazing as the Emerites is, its completely disconnected with the locals. All around it was poverty and drugs. There'sno way the locals could afford their ticketing let alone the beer and pies. Football has been stolen and now steals from the working class.

I seen something interesting, prices of going to watch a football game, in line with inflation SHOULD be £1.66 for a prem game... A yorkie bar costs more than that at the RICOH.

Original post wasn't clear-my point is that tickets in England are a rip off at most levels in the FL. Tickets for Bundesliga games are regularly no higher than £20 and away travel is free; why can't we have such a system here?

Excellent post.
Top price Cat A tickets at the Effiminates are 123.5 pounds.

If top flight clubs can afford to pay reserve players tens of thousands a week they can afford to reduce ticket prices.

Germany usually does have things on the money when it comes to football-protected fan ownership of clubs, the cheaper tickets, safe standing at grounds, free away day travel etc etc. Don't get me wrong it's not a system without flaws but it's a lot closer to how football should be run than it is here.

Read an article on this a few months back. When Lord Justice Taylor proposed the introduction of all-seater stadiums he specified that the fans should pay no more to sit than they were already paying to stand at games. At the time is was roughly £3 to £4 for your average top flight match, taking into account inflation etc. your average premiership game should cost you around £16 to £18.
Now standing areas are being demanded by fans of nearly all clubs in Britain, the owners of the premiership are refusing to co-operate due to all seaters bringing lots more families into the game. Ironically for a family of four your average day out is going to cost well over £100 and standing areas would mean cheaper tickets. In other words the way the game has turned into an americanised money maker is disgusting.

Although I like MKD (they were founded at a time I didn't actually understand the significance of what they had done!), they are a franchise which we do not want Americanisation of our sport.

Although there are some good aspects to American sports.

Just got my beloved Packers on in the NFL just now American sports are just too saturated with commercialism for the UK market-could you imagine many people here being happy with adverts every 10 seconds?

If Premier League ticket prices were dropped clubs wouldn't be able to spend £20-30million signing players who are already something close to the finished article and then pay them hundreds of thousands a week. As a result, they'd have to prioritise good scouting and youth development to assemble a good team on the cheap.

As people have alluded to, this is what happened in Germany not so long ago, and they now have one of the most entertaining leagues in the world, as well as the best crop of young players in the world.
