I'd wager he's got a higher IQ than you. He's also done remarkably well in business, in fame and finally in politics. Again I'm going to suggest better than you. Even getting people to follow him is a pretty good skill, and after the first term to come back again is even more remarkable. Laugh all you like, disagree all you like, but you're wrong. He doesn't use his skills for good, and he knows what triggers people. You don't have to like someone to acknowledge their achievements.
I'll bet he doesn't.
His business is based entirely on a property and land empire inherited from his father which it's almost impossible not to make money from, yet he's done his best. He's had numerous casinos go bust, where people literally give you their money and you decide how much they win back. He'd have more money if he'd taken that fortune and put in a normal savings account.
I won't argue that he has some sort of charisma that is unfathomable to me but makes others blindly follow him despite all the evidence saying it's a bad idea. But cult leaders have the same personality so I wouldn't suggest it's that they're massively intelligent people, they just know how to prey on the weak, the vulnerable and the stupid.
And that is largely what success in politics relies on. You can be very successful as a politician but achieve nothing of note. And that's why I've never got involved. I don't have that personality that people will follow regardless and I'm far more interested in improving people's lives than my own personal glory or enrichment and I'm not narcissistic or deluded enough to think I can overcome all the massive barriers that the rich and well-connected would put in the way. And even if I did manage to overcome most of them and get into a position whereby I might be able to make a change I'm pretty sure I'd meet with some tragic 'accident'.
