Kind of what I was thinking- both tweets liked this evening. Dawkins doesn't follow me, so presume he searched for Hamer and wanted to put out some of his own frustrations cryptically- he has openly said he would renew his box if the club showed ambition by renewing Hamers contract.

I'll live in hope until the club says otherwise - it would be very frustrating if a deal was within our grasp and the opportunity was not taken...
Yeah won’t we all shep

think it’s pretty much done and dusted now unfortunately

carry on praising DK though people

Reminded me of that crazy guy who used to make curries for the new players who joined the club.. sure they were nice curries but how did he always manage to get his food to new signings…

Is that that Sunny bloke on FB? He seems a bit….special

If Hamer is/was offered the maximum the club can give, but its only 50% of an offer given somewhere else then what do we expect each party involved to do. No player is bigger than the club, no matter how much we all rate him. Or think we should break the bank to keep him. Id love to keep Hamer but it may not be possible and in that case as long as all tried to find a solution, then nobody is to blame, its just the way of the business. Most of the time we cant get what we cant afford we just have to be happy with what we can.

It will be interesting to hear MR on this, but im sure he already knows what is being decided and what way to go to take the club forward. We have to trust in the process even if at times its seems we are going backwards. We just have to trust in MR and you never know good news could be right round the corner.....

I've been mentally prepared for both Vik and Gus to be off since the final whistle at Wembley. No way I sliced it in my mind added up to us being able to keep them.

If we look at it without our skyblue glasses on it would be really unambitious of either to stay.

Not sure where these rumours of Gus only wanting 20k to stay came from but that sounds like utter bollocks, in what world do players go around announcing that in public?

Dawkins possibly tapping Hamer up on behalf of his ‘Everton mate’ or fancies himself as an agent. Also, can’t help but thinking he may still be a harbinger of sour grapes over losing out on the takeover bid and despite being a Sky Blues fan is quite happy to stir the pudding when the mood takes him.

it’s not bollocks. Hamer has made a lot friends here. if you knew what Hamer was like, he’s very honest and outgoing person. refreshing to see in a footballer. if you don’t want to believe the 20k then that’s your prerogative but I can tell you it’s true.

I could believe this. I’ve never met Hamer but he admits that football is a small part of his life. He doesn’t watch it on TV and prefers to spend time with his family and friends. If he’s happy locally then maybe his priorities are not that if a typical footballer.

The same Dawkins that claimed that wasps were staying or the same Dawkins that put a "bid" in for the club then couldn't produce proof of funds you mean.....

Absolutely full of shite

Dawkins is on speaking terms with a couple players so may get team gossip but no one in any position of power is giving him anything so take anything he says financially with a pinch of salt.

And who’s to say he’s not just being used by players/agents to get a player friendly arguments out there. As you say, take everything with a pinch of salt and let’s just see how it all plays out

because it would be a rubbish way of doing anything

He's mid level music manager John Dawkins not Brian Epstein mate, his reach is a few cov fans.

Agents will leak to the press, Hamer is big enough now that a national will write stories about him.

I want to keep Hamer as much as anybody but there is no way we should be breaking our wage structure for anyone. After everything we've been through over the last decade or so. I want to live within our means as much as possible to be competitive.

We need to give him his 20k a week which in the current climate is a bargain for his excellence. We could always ask Julian Darby to get his boots on for 4k a week.

If we can’t afford £20k/wk for a player of his calibre the wage structure needs changing. If we had a team of Hamers we’d win the league at a canter. It’s not every day a player of that quality wants to stay. And if it was that would be great.

It’s perfectly possible to like a tweet saying that losing Vik AND Gus would be a disaster without it being inevitable that contract discussions btw Hamer’s team and the club were irreconcilable. In fact I’d expect it to be one of the key points of leverage in favour of Hamer’s new contract - we are already losing our only other star.

To be fair Robins has done it time and time again with replacing outgoing players with upgrades when I thought he wouldn't, but the gap in quality left behind if we lose Gyokeres and Hamer is going to be huge. They have literally single-handedly won us some games last season.

Resigned to Gyokeres going, but if the Hamer wage rumour is true, we should really budge a bit to meet his demands imo
