It’s pretty stupid just how much they’re centring all media content around him when it’s pretty clear he wants to leave.

Joel Piroe has decided to stay at Swansea this season and run down his contract. Swans fans are saying is madness and the club are better off cashing in and reinvesting.

What if the club and Hamer are playing a massive joke on us all and signed an extension weeks ago.

Interesting that Gus never tells anyone directly what his plans are but everyone seems to know someone who knows someones who knows what his plans are.

Bizarre.
[/QUOTE]

Apart from on the golf course where he tells everybody about how much change he has in his pocket.

Even if he signed an extension we’d most likely cash in on him next year so I’m sure there’s a list of young, relatively unknown players that we are looking at possibly brining in. Maybe we’ll now move on one of those before this fully plays out.

There is significant risk on Gus's part then. He's one ACL away from unemployment in 2024.

If just chuck him 30k a week, 2 year deal with a clause that if we don’t get promoted this season he can leave for a set amount of “**,***,***”, should meet his wage demands and should give him enough time to show his worth for bigger clubs, while giving our scouts a year to look specifically for a midfielder.

You can’t base your career on a potential injury though - if you back yourself you can do it. And let’s face it if he does his ACL we’d still offer him a 1 year extension then. As we did with Jodi Jones, Sunderland did with Willis

From the rumours he ain’t signing because we are not meeting his wage demand.

gives him a way out of not promoted and we can always have a extra year clause if we’re promoted.

He’d get 40 grand a week as a squad player in a premier league club and a 3 or 4 year deal and if he leaves for free he’d be able to negotiate even more

Ok then just offer him a 3 year deal at 30k a week and the clause to leave if we don’t get promoted, problem solved, he gets a lower prem team player wage (which is who would buy him) and he gets a way out.

Yeah that’s a great strategy - commit nearly £5 million of wages to a player who could lose form or suffer a severe injury

Thank christ you aren’t running the club

He still wouldn’t sign it anyway

O hare also not mentioned anywhere - he is free to leave on a free in 12 months . Should we not be looking at least at a 12 month extension now , surely a risk worth taking

No you don’t. Your talking of busting our wage budget for someone who wants out and therefore will not sign a contract with clauses in - why would he

We ain’t busting it when simms is on 25k a week (rumoured wage), so why would it be busting out wage when he is the best player this club has seen for 20 years
