his all or nothing dont look lick he has a middle settingHis record here is good , hes been an important player for us since hes been here , hes simply out of form
I have defended Wright on here but I agree with you.The next few months are a generation defining moment for this club.
Do you trust Haji Wright to help us see that through as the lead striker?
It's a no from me.
Can't read the article, but does it say "sometimes, I just can't be arsed", by any chance? An interesting read about Wright, all be it written a few years ago, but exactly what we saw from him end of last season and currently now.
.
The majority of this squad in the last 12 months under Frank have risen to new levels. Haji hasnt. Haji has clearly peaked, we've seen the best of him. He's no different a player now to the player that walked in to Ryton 3 years ago.An interesting read about Wright, all be it written a few years ago, but exactly what we saw from him end of last season and currently now.

Yeah it does, it was a game he played for America and basically it says it was an embarrassing performance, he was terrible, lazy, lack of effort, showed no interest. Apparently Josh Sargeant ran, so Wright could jog. Can't read the article, but does it say "sometimes, I just can't be arsed", by any chance?
It woukd be interesting to have an interview with him..im sure hes as frustrated as we all are. If hes not then theres gotta be questions.I don't really get what most of his critics think is going on in his head?
Do people really think he's not trying? Why would he do that? It makes no sense.
The fact is that he is a goalscorer, and not much else. He doesn't hold the ball up or playmake particularly well. Never has. So when he's not scoring, of course he doesn't look great. His game is all about receiving the ball facing goal in and around the box, we're struggling to create those opportunities often enough right now so it just isn't happening for him.
He's underperformed personally, but is probably unlucky to have not scored 1 or 2 in the last 10 games which would probably have taken some heat off his back.
He also has played his best games for us from the left but Lampard wants him down the middle. He aint going anywhere so fans need to support himI don't really get what most of his critics think is going on in his head?

i assume by "into the channel" you're referring to where haji stands while he is inevitably offside.Lampard is going with Wright. So it’s pointless to keep playing in to his feet. He’s no good in that scenario. We can argue till we’re blue in the face whether he should be but he isn’t. If he plays we have to prioritise balls into the channel.
The best haji has ever played for us was through the middle against sunderland , he was unbeleivable that day , hes a strikerHe also has played his best games for us from the left but Lampard wants him down the middle. He aint going anywhere so fans need to support him
I agree he’s better on the left. I wouldn’t be against sticking Simms up top and rotating Wright and EMC on the left. He’s our best attacking player by far but we’re not seeing the best of him.i assume by "into the channel" you're referring to where haji stands while he is inevitably offside.
i'm not attacking the guy out of hand. he's had some amazing games for us, but they were almost all on the left wing for me.
he needs time and space to get the ball under control, and stretch his legs. and you just don't get that in the box.
add to that his lack of heading ability, and i just do not see him as a striker.
enjoy him while you can. i just have a feeling he's off.
Usually on the left of a two though and with a back 5, not stuck out on the wing where he can't provide enough defensive cover either. He also has played his best games for us from the left but Lampard wants him down the middle. He aint going anywhere so fans need to support him
Your using one match, his best run of semi consistent form was off the left in his first season or at the start of this season as a striker if you want to argue his best position is striker. The best haji has ever played for us was through the middle against sunderland , he was unbeleivable that day , hes a striker
Hes nowhere near EMC as a winger
12 goals in half a season with four months out is pretty good going by any standards, don't forget the he got hurt early preseason in the "friendly" and missed most of that too. I don't know what expectations you have?Your using one match, his best run of semi consistent form was off the left in his first season or at the start of this season as a striker if you want to argue his best position is striker.
He was largely crap as a striker last season with the Sunderland performance being an anomaly.
No, we have inform striker, Ellis Simms, 7 in 8 starts. If he'd got two or three of the penalty shouts that should have been given recently we wouldn't even be having the discussion! We don't have anyone else who's scored at the WC finals and we're not going to get one to replace him!
Haji Wright: World Cup goal for USA was like a 'fever dream'
Coventry City forward Haji Wright talks about the confidence he has gained from last years FIFA World Cup and says the experience was surreal.www.skysports.com
He got one yesterday from the free cross playing in Haji's position. He was unremarkable for the rest of the game and in his two previous starts. I like the lad but he's a carthorse next to Haji, I'm afraid. I remember last season too in forty odd starts - seems some do not but I do not want us to be relying on the long ball, it dilutes all of the players' skills over time. No, we have inform striker, Ellis Simms, 7 in 8 starts.
He had a solid game, 2 headers on target, worked hard and layed the ball off well. He is scoring, Wright isn't..Like I say, 7 in 8 starts, Haji, not one. "Carthorse next to Haji!".. are you serious? Haji looks like he can't be bothered. When Simms starts, we win games. He got one yesterday from the free cross playing in Haji's position. He’s clearly streaky goal scorer too, he had runs last season where he’d score 5-6 games in a row.Hes a striker , lampard plays him there and the usa
Was only robins really that played him wide more than through the middle
simmos goal yesterday was a perfect example of the difference between him and haji. haji would have taken a touch, and been closed down. no goal.He got one yesterday from the free cross playing in Haji's position. Good finish though yesterday wasnt itYeah - the other difference is Haji will be worth at least 3 times what Simms would get in transfer fees. This forum is getting more ridiculous by the day.
