Latest from a Portuguese journalist

Gyokeres: Sporting is already close to 20 M € , but Coventry City is asking for around 22 M € . There is still no agreement, despite the Swedish striker wanting to head to Portugal. Lions only go after a winger and a midfielder when they close the main reinforcement for the attack

Gyokeres has done well but this idea that he's stronger than Harry Kane is crazy. I am referring to the poster you are replying to not you btw, as Gyokeres is faster than Kane.

Kane is one of the strongest strikers in the world and probably only second on this to Haaland in the Premier League. He outmuscles top Premier league defenders virtually every week. He scores a remarkable number of headers against the best defences in the world, including for England. He scored 30 goals in 38 appearances last season and has a career record at that level of 213 in 317. If Haaland hadn't been around his record last season would have received far more attention. Most of his goals come from his strength.

Gyokeres has proved to be an excellent Championship player and should succeed at a higher level. But I think he has scored one header for us and does tend to struggle against powerful defenders at this level at times.

Expecting to see someone claim he is better than Haaland next.

He was a grade A c*nt whilst here. He clearly wasn't arsed when here and made that quite clear when he left. I couldn't believe we got our money back on the vile creature at the time.

Listened to undr the cosh with David Thompson earlier today, briefly speaks about Bellamy and his time with city.

Thompson said he’d never met somebody so obsessed with football than Bellamy, apparently he would always been the first in for training and more often than not the last one to leave and he was unbelievable in training. Said the problem for us was we signed him just after he came back from 10 months out and this was the reason it never worked out.

He actually said the older pros were the ones that wernt actually that arsed if we got relegated as it was likely they would be found out again the following season if we had stayed up and they had the opinion it would be easier for them to earn another contract with us in the league below.

Bellamy was crocked - the club didn't do the due dilligence.

He was blistering for Newcastle the next season. Had we stayed up it would be a front 2 of Hartson and Bellamy.

Yeah, recovered at our expense. It was the way he bad mouthed us after scoring 6 goals or whatever it was. Wee Gordon wanted Hartson in the October or so he told me in the pub (he used to take his wife to a little bar in Kenilworth that's now called the Old Bakery I think, although he didn't drink) and we would surely have stayed up.

He seemed to miss chance after chance. Each time he did, his head dropped a little more. I suppose it's also worth remembering that he was quite a young player as well at the time, with a lot of pressure on his shoulders. I still hate the little gobshite, though.

He wasn't crocked he was just rehabilitating from injury. To be fair to him the defence was a much bigger problem that season. Relying on substandard players like Shaw and Williams and Colin fucking Hendry.

I personally think he’ll stay. Run his contract down and see where it leads us. We have the power of hand. He’s to good of a player to not respect his own development.

Keane was adored and Bellamy was never going to be as good as him and didn't have the intelligence to follow in his footsteps. Horrible little shit who stuck to fingers up at the West End.

If we had gotten Hartson in earlier, we’d have given ourselves a much better chance.
Should’ve, would’ve, could’ve……

He galvanised a club that were pretty flat at the time and looking for a saviour. Hartson fitted the mould.
In fairness, I think the club tried to get him in earlier, but there were fitness issues. Didn’t the club’s insurer refuse to cover him so we ended up with a “pay as you play” deal?

Hartson left under a little cloud though as well. Didn’t get the move he wanted (fully understanding why he wanted to move from a relegated club when his stock was high), then publicly committed to staying with us - even if Man U came in for him. A week later he was in the green hoops of Celtic.

Don’t blame him at all for the move, but the timing wasn’t great after his public declaration.

Almost every Celtic fan I’ve met has been a top guy, however I remember having a drunken argument with some chavvy ones in Mallorca that summer about Hartson!

You’re giving his agent some competition

The “I don’t see him leaving for less than £23m” is a quote from someone who works for Football League World!

Good call if true after Brighton get their bit leaves about £20million for us, having said that I’d rather keep him and build our forward line with him in it,

Maybe if the stories of Everton being interested turn out true, we might be able to make Simms part of the deal. They do seem to have their own financial woes though and also doubt as to whether they can/ will meet our asking price, although they might get a windfall from selling Pickford I suppose.
