Gyokeres was miles more important, with what he brought to the club and what his transfer out enabled for us.

Yeah but we didn't know what a player he'd turn out to be when we signed him from Brighton - there's not one of us when he joined who would've said 'This is one of the most mportant signings we've ever made'

I think we all agree that without him, we'd be much worse off.
If we get promoted, he will have been well worth the 3.5m fee, and possibly be the most important and most lucrative transfer ever.

Too soon to say. Some good shouts above though.

I do think Grimes is massively underrated by a few and often over looked by the press for TOTW or team of the season of far votes. To me he just quietly does most things way better than the majority players in this league. Very little flash to it just dictates a game or breaks up the oppositions rhythm.

I'm pretty sure there are wanky stats about 'pre assists' I'd be very surprised if he isn't really high in that as he seems to often make the pass that unlocks the space that ends in a goal a pass or two down the line.

Great player and an absolute daylight robbery we got him for what we paid. He is the one player I dread getting injured.

I think Thomas must have loads of those pre assists too. Seems to be involved in almost every goal.

Doyle was absolutely not a more important signing than Matty Grimes

I don't think people realise how important Doyle was to getting us up from L2. The leadership he gave us at a time where as a team we were completely rudderless was priceless.

From memory he also played an important role in convincing McNulty to come here.

I'm not sure we would've got out of L2 without him.

Ultimately MR,ADY the coaching team but that bloke who our recruiter ex Wolves, went onto Blackpool got a short-lived promotion then sacked quite
quickly

Absolute collossus.

From the minute he scored that goal at Leeds away to equalise.

That goal epitomised him...it was like get out the way im going up field and nothings gonna stop me from winning this header. Beast.

He's enabled us to upgrade our midfield, and move Sheaf on. Two things which have been pretty critical to our success.

Our forwards will get a lot of the attention as we score so many goals, but our midfield is top quality. Rudoni, Torp, Eccles, Grimes. On their day are all exceptionally good for this league.

Well he's outright top for chance creation, successful passes, crosses and also has touched the ball more than anyone else in the league. So it's probably safe to say there's nobody better in the league at what he does.

I know he's well regarded with people in the know but it is surprising he isn't talked about more in the press. I guess he doesn't really do the flashy moments that can be clipped for social media.

I'd love to see how he would get on in the Prem, I have a suspicion he'd cope well. Being super tidy on the ball and having a great read of the game can serve players really well. Can't put my finger on a player he reminds me of. Maybe a tad of Jorginho. Tidy keeps things ticking, not a classic man mountain of DM.

In the prem you need that extra physicality as a DM. So I think we would look to bring one in. There would likely be games where we require two DM’s though so he would play a part

Fitness record is nearly perfect too which bodes well for the league above, my concern would be the speed and physicality going up another level which is perhaps why nobody's taken the chance on him.
