Does anyone recommend a podcast to follow team? I have watched City Unseen on YouTube.
First time supporting a team of any kind that isn’t local. It’s a bit more challenging.

Welcome to being a Cov fan, there's alot of downs but the ups are so much sweeter because of it. As for aging you, be prepared, just look at Mark Robins when he took over vs when he was sacked.

For podcasts you can't go wrong with the BBC CWR fancast/post match phone ins.

the nii lampty podcast is by far the best in terms of content, really good discussions and analysis, just not as often as i’d like (probably averages once a month).

I’d also recommend listening to “not the top twenty” podcast to learn more about the championship and below (although hopefully this will be less relevant for us after the next few weeks!), and “football weekly” for all things football

More of a joking suggestion, because also more US fans should explore more of the entire pyramid system as it's an entirely odd concept compared to like the NFL.

Actually, this blew my mind when I first discovered it. The entire idea of promotion and relegation. I was trying to imagine the New York Yankees having a bad season and being demoted from MLB to Triple A and then down the minor leagues. Was very intriguing. Then, just when I thought I had the entire thing figured out, I found out about Champions league, cup ties, Europa. . I’ve researched all the clubs until you get to non league. I know next to nothing about them. I narrowed it down to Coventry City, Crewe Alexandra or Leyton Orient and spent the first part of this season following all 3. You find what you keep gravitating towards vs what feels forced and uninteresting.

Honestly, I tried the Sunderland, Wrexham documentaries. Too many Americans like Wrexham (too trendy) and Sunderland supporters seemed like ……. (I’ll be nice. Not my kind of people).

Welcome and good choice. We are a million times more interesting as a club and City than Wrexham too... which bizarrely seems to have taken off over in States. A few regular posters on here are based in the US, so you never know there may be someone relatively nearby.

It’s literally an MLS club. I try, but I enjoy English football much more. It’s my first time following any sports team that isn’t local and will agree that it’s much more difficult without the feeling of history and community. Thanks for the advice though.

FC Cincinnati

I live in Covington, Kentucky which is directly across the river from Cincinnati Ohio. I have about a 15 minute commute to work in downtown Cincinnati. It seems like Coventry and Cincinnati are similar sized cities. (Our town has around 320K, so slightly smaller but a lot of us in nearby towns work and support the Cincinnati teams since they are the most local. Kentucky has zero professional sports clubs).

As a note, the cities are nowhere near the same size. City boundaries in the US are really arbitrary and often don't capture where the bulk of the population lives. Need to look at metro / urban pop. figures.

Nothing beats going to live matches and you have a gem of a stadium just across the river from you. Can confirm as I went to a FCC-NSC match up there a year ago. FC Cincy has committed ownership that punches above its weight in the league. Sure those first few seasons were rough, but man they are a great team now that is willing to spend to chase titles. Not many smaller-market teams in the US would do the same.

My local team Harborough. I run my daughters u13s team there also. But the 1st team is doing wonders the last few years - awesome alongside supporting Cov. (And Rugby Town!)

Ickey took the league by storm during that Super Bowl run. I was 13 and we were all doing the shuffle . Sadly injuries ended his career before he made big money. He was selling meat door to door at one point.
