This Coventry City team has won my heart and support.

As a 48 year old American, I grew up in a generation when “soccer” was not very popular. I played baseball, basketball and our version of football. However, in recent years, I started watching the beautiful game and I was hooked! I can’t believe I never got into it sooner. I wanted a club to support, but I didn’t want to jump on the bandwagon of the Man City’s or Liverpool’s. That felt too easy. I started learning about the Championship teams. Watching YouTube documentaries about the teams and cities they live in. Coventry City stood out for several reasons. I remember Frank Lampard from his playing days at Chelsea. Also, I grew up in Covington, Kentucky (directly across the river from Cincinnati Ohio). Our city goes by the nickname of COV, so it felt right. I have been following the Sky Blues all season. I have learned about the City. I relate to the resilience of the city and club. I want to come and see the Coventry Cathedral, Lady Godiva in all her glory, the Car Museum, the Peeping Tom clock, and much more. Most of all, I am Sky Blue and will be singing along “We’ll live and die in these towns”…..

im the only Coventry City fan I know of in my area. Thanks for letting me share in the passion of this city and team. If they go up (or even if not), I’m going to try to convert some others at my local bar (pub) to Coventry City fans!

Welcome and good choice. We are a million times more interesting as a club and City than Wrexham too... which bizarrely seems to have taken off over in States. A few regular posters on here are based in the US, so you never know there may be someone relatively nearby.

Buzzards are a little ominous since it usually means something is dead.

It's not Greggs or Boosh. IP address checks out.

Well, not unless they've gone to way too much effort.

Quite a few Americans and English-Abroad in US (like myself) around here on the forums.
At least there's one more here in our column who thinks of Coventry City in favorable terms rather than in favourable terms.

@Super Frank

Your next assignment is to pick at random a Non League team to support.

For your consideration, because it won't matter one way or the other, is the mighty Tudors. Given just their splashy King Henry logo

Does anyone recommend a podcast to follow team? I have watched City Unseen on YouTube.
First time supporting a team of any kind that isn’t local. It’s a bit more challenging.

Easiest to describe as an “in-topic” where someone had an offer of an interview for a dream jobat a bike and hardware store called Halfords at the exact time of the match on Saturday. Unbleivably they were asking this forum for advice as to whether to be unavailable for the interview and go to the match, or the other way around. I don’t know hat the interview decision or outcome was in the end.
