I started playing this year too , played 8 full rounds now and been hitting the par 3 course at the Warwickshire too.

Achieved by aim of the year last round to break 100 with a 95!

just playing boring golf is definitely the way to break 100 when your about 100-110 level.

This guy initially appears to be a 🤡 but videoreally made a massive difference to my scores!!

Looking at the guy I half expected 'the scorecard is key' to mean just cheat writing down your score.

Same! Nearly didn’t bother watching , but honestly I’ve watched hours of videos in the last few months as this guys are the best for beginners I reckon.

recommend a few he’s done on course management and breaking 100, and also on putting. When I started I was paranoid about playing a proper course cus I didn’t feel good enough, I’m now so much confident as realised there a lot of people who dont break 100 regulary! Can happily hit a drive 200 yards , and then just use 7 irons or higher

Nice one I’ll have a watch. And good progress. I think it was about the 17th round I broke 100, although have slipped back to around 100 a few times since.

Have you had a proper lesson? I’m torn somewhere between being happy with my self thought progress and not shelling out the money and worrying about bad habits being hard to shift the longer I go without some proper steer 🤔

i’m yet to have a lesson, and I’m in same boat as I feel like I’m progressing just working stuff out myself, so don’t want to screw it up.

however I’m very lucky, as the bloke I play with plays off 8, and he’s really encouraging and good with little bits of advice if I ask for it, rather than trying to change what I’m doing or giving me lectures!

3 biggest things a did for score improvement - were to just use a baseball grip with a driver (, cured slice) , and concentrated on hitting 7 irons , rather than 9 or wedges, and became happy to lay up on par 3‘s protected with bunkers , then just chip on in 2 and go from there ……….as I said originally very boring golf., but good for the scorecard.

Think it helps massively that my putting is lot better than average for my handicap

Most people don't break 100 regularly!

I get the apprehension, but try not to worry about it. I play off low single figures and one of the guys I play with normally goes round in 110-120. It doesn't bother me in any way, I don't stand there thinking god this guy is rubbish or anything like that. I don't care if I play with someone who shoots 70 or 120 as long as they have decent etiquette and don't play slow.

We're all beginners at some point and I promise you nobody is judging you 👊🏻

Sorry I should have clarified, I think the Belfry is overrated personally. But of course it's totally subjective and plenty love it 🙂

I haven't been getting around many local courses recently, any you particularly like?

Also if you fancy a hidden gem, slightly further afield depending on where you live then Welford on Avon is nice. Mostly just because it's the quietest golf course I've ever played, no one seems to know about it and if you play in the week there's hardly anyone there! Strange setup though, there's no clubhouse just a car park 🤣
Yep, down the road from me. Another one hidden away on the way to Stratford is this-

Used to be the Ingon manor but has been taken over. In the winter we used to get breakfast and a round for £10! They should have payed us to play for that price 😀

22nd round today. Finished 28 over par which is my best round yet and pulls the handicap down to 28.7. Dogshit yes but a marked improvement since I started in June.

Moreover it’s loads of time outdoors and provided I’m not held up by slow play it does wonders for the mind. The perfect escape from a houseful of arseholes hell bent on ruining my day (aka two teenagers).

The aim is to play a new course every week between now and the weather turning. 7 different courses so far. Today was Hollywood Golf Club. Played Ardencote last week. Looking at Windmill Village tomorrow or next weekend. And somewhere special for my 40th in September (possibly the Belfry, albeit only the peasant course). Golf Now is an absolute godsend.
I was at the Belfry on Friday as my lad was playing in a junior event on the PGA National course. It's shit, and the Derby isn't any better. They've put all their efforts into the Brabazon but is it worth £180 odd quid for a round. Debatable.

I played the PGA last Tuesday, and agree 100% on the condition of the course.
Very poor in places.

The Bristish Masters definitely took priority on course maintenance as you would expect.

Still at it. 25 rounds since starting In June. Happened to be in the area so played Copeswood Grange earlier. What a gem of a well kept 9 holes!!

By far the toughest course played so far was Sandwell last weekend… real challenge. Have a stay n play at Carden Park in a fortnight for my 40th which I’m really looking forward to.

Well and truly got the bug. Handicap down to 26. Defo carrying on through winter.

Copeswood is a strange one. You expect it to be shite pitch and putt, but it's actually a really decent 9 hole course. Considering it spends about 3 months of the year completely submerged in water too!

Yeah. Arrived at the football pitch/outside what I presume was a WMC and thought this can’t be up to much course wise. But was really surprised. Greens were like carpets and the fairways were great given the heatwave we had and versus several places I’ve been recently. If I wasn’t 45 mins away I’d happily make it my mid week practice course.
