Just wanted to get thoughts on renewing season ticket on my own.
My wife who i used to go with passed away and I didn't go for a season and half, I met someone. Got them into it and we started going together, didn't work out.
Now im thinking of just renewing on my own .
What's your thoughts.

I say go for it mate. Gets you out of the house. Presumably you chat to the people around you a bit if they are other ST holders?

Yes mate, had the majority same people every week so deformed people to chat with, thanks for your input.

Sorry to hear that ☹️

Yeah go for it, there will be those around you and you can still enjoy football on your own.

Have done it a few times and don't mind it.
Thank you

I get it, my mate who i used to go with all the time stopped going so when I go its on my own or with part timers but its still fun. Plus the deformed people who sit around you to chat with 😆

Sorry for your loss mate.

The great thing about football, and we saw it this season, is that it brings us together. I had to sit on my own at the Man Utd semi final. It was actually amazing and I almost pulled several times.

Go for it. I'm sure you will have no regrets.

Mad hatters were gagging after a few beers.

Sorry to hear that mate. Don't let it stop you going. I used to go with my Dad, and when he got to the point he couldn't go anymore I kept going. I'd say at least 50% of the people round where I am are technically on their own but its the same people every game so you get to know everyone.

My only tip would be ask their names early on or you'll be like me and years in and have no clue what their names are despite seeing them every couple of weeks for years!

Absolutley!... all my mates dropped out when we went down the leagues so been going on my own the last 5 seasons or so. I enjoy it, no peer pressure, just do what you want. Although its the same faces around you week in week out so doesnt feel like your on your own.

I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I've been going to matches alone since 2021, both as a season ticket holder and to away matches. I fucking love it. It felt weird the first few times but it doesn't take long to make friends or even just casual chatting buddies once you start recognising the same faces around you. I can promise you that nobody cares about or judges you for going alone, ultimately everyone in the stadium is there for the same reason!

Omg I feel so seen :ROFLMAO:

I went for years with my father in law. He passed away 12 years ago. Also a few others went with him and they all stopped so went from 6 to me pretty quickly

Since back from Birmingham I’ve set next to one guy on his own and a younger guy who goes with one of his parents. Behind are a family of I assume grandad mum and daughter. We’ve all just got to know each other and none of us will move from the seats

We do seem to have a bit of a thing about doing anything on you own in this country. Regularly see posts about going to gigs, cinema, theatre, restaurants etc on your own and they're nearly always Brits with everyone else confused why this would even be a question!

100% go on your own. Also much more likely to meet someone who shares your passion than someone going along who doesnt really get it but just to keep you company.

I regularly hug strangers when we score, especially at away games, which is completely out of touch with the rest of my life, where not only am I not a touchy feely sort, but not really a huge fan of people in general.

Cant beat going cinema on your own, middle of the day or late at night... nice and quite.

Guessing you must work pretty hard not being yourself during games ;)

I went on my own to some of the southern evening games in League 2 / League One days and found that I got into the game more and actually enjoyed it. As other have said, you're never alone at the football and there are loads of people who go on their own.

Sorry to hear that about your wife and wish you’re healing.

If you enjoy going to football, 100% continue going. I had a ST for years with my brother who often didn’t go so had many home games on my Jack Jones.

Fell with a good group of lads, even people on this forum and built up a nice network.

Been going on my own for years since my son went to Uni.
It's great going on your own.
I have a set routine.
1.5 hrs to drive up, call in at Tescos next to the M6, drive to the car park and eat my sarnies and listen to CWR match build up, then stroll to the ground 1/2 before kick off.
Get quite annoyed if someone wants to travel with me!

Go for it, always went with my Dad until he passed away in 2017. So have been going on my own since then as no one I know is into football (Coventry) . Mind you this coming season every Arsenal and Man Utd fans have asked me to get tickets for them😂

Absolutely 100%. When I was away from Coventry in the 1980s I would often travel to away games on my own.
I was sat in the North stand on my own for 4 of the last 6 seasons as mates sat elsewhere and before my boy took an interest and we moved to the South stand. I travelled to St Andrews on my own as others boycotted it.
Same with live music - I'd dread to think of all the bands over the last four and half decades I'd have never seen just cos nobody else was interested.

Absolutely go for it! you never know who you will meet, friends you'll make and the experiances youll have!
