Just settling down for 2 hours of the Cure. Saw them at Glastonbury in 1995 (a few other times too) and they were great.

I remember sisters of mercy being on at reading one year. It was really hot and the goth massive we’re out in force. All wearing leather trousers to boot. There must have been some serious chafing and yeast infections that weekend.

I've never been into the Cure but his voice sounds great, particularly after watching the Janet Jackson set yesterday.

Grim :dummy: goth fashion is weirdly persistent where others fade to obscurity there always seems to be a few goths clinging on to their black nail polish etc

Possibly the worst iteration was early 00s when the Marilyn Manson fans took up the torch and starter wearing those ridiculously oversized black jeans.

Saw him headlines Leeds one year in rare heat with hordes of goth emo types struggling in the heat. Suppose it was preferable to rain I guess As when wet they would wick up a couple of litres of water each leg

Better than the Killers. Last time I heard the Cure was in the 80's. Well impressed.

Saw the Cure a few years ago at Festival and didn't think they were great then so didn't bother with this tonight.

Saw a goth on Saturday in all the gear and a big jacket on, carrying a sun brolly

It cuts across all boundaries. For quite some time now 'Glasto' has been a 'must' on the social calendar alongside Henley regatta. And 'doing' Rocky Horror.

Mark Ratcliffe touched on it last night though. Its seems to be getting more like Karaoke with singers using less instruments and having an increasing use of backing tapes and the like.

Just look at the charts. How many actual bands are in the top 40?

It's either pop, rap, hip hop or some drip like Ed Sheeran or Lewis Capaldi with an acoustic guitar singing cookie cutter songs about love.

Teenagers don't give a fuck about bands anymore. As long as something sounds catchy coming out of their tinny little iPhone speakers it's fine.

Just seen that footage of that young lad Alex Mann who got on stage with Dave, absolutely nailed it, what a moment for the lad, apparently his phone hasn't stopped ringing.

I reckon he'll rinse a few quid out of this, fair play to him.
