Figured it was time to start a new thread as the old one is 'new tv series 2019'!

If you want to see where George Lucas got his inspiration for Star Wars (or who he ripped off depending on your point of view) after decades stuck in development Issac Asimov's Foundation is finally coming to the screen. Will be on Apple TV next year. Looks
very promising from the trailer.

i just watched the C4 documentary Murder in the car park. I've followed the story for many years.
Its about a private detective that was murdered in London in the 80s and is the most investigated murder in Britain.
It goes down quite a few rabbit holes including police racism, corruption and connections to the tabloids.
There's also a book which is quite old now called the untouchables which leads from this into the Stephen Lawrence murder and a podcast called untold murder which delves quite deeply into MET connections with the tabloids including that fake sheik fella.
No one has ever been prosecuted.

I started watching that but I thought the acting and dramatisation was a bit random. They were adding random swearing into everything that didn't seem natural.

I might try it again though as I do like that sort of thing.

Watched unforgotten on Netflix, think I had seen one series on the BBC but they were a decent binge.

I watched the first two of murder in the car park last night. I can't believe how entangled the police got in this from the start. I've changed my mind a couple of times on who's guilty or not.
Feel sorry for the mother and brother of the victim. For them it just went on and on. You couldn't make this stuff up.

I’m watching the Bodyguard at present. I think a thread of appreciation just for Keeley Hawes is justified.

the book and the podcast go into more detail though neither are solely about this case.
I've never really had an opinion about who did it but I'm convinced there was a conspiracy that the police were involved in. There was a copper who had evidence threatening to uncover something to do with the case , (can't remember exactly what), and he died in mysterious circumstances but it was ruled as suicide.
The truth will probably out one day a long time from now.

Which podcast is it? I have been watching some on youtube at night. They are the videos rather than audio.

Untold - the Daniel Morgan murder.
Bizarrely, as it moves away from the case and into the areas of misbehaviour by the tabloids Ross Kemp doesn't come out of it too well.

Yes, yes, yes!

My 'Lord of the Rings' growing up. Been waiting years for this to hit the screen.

'Bicentennial Man' was shockingly bad with, 'I Robot' not too far ahead of it. Great special effects but the storyline was reallly bad.

I know they are from the robot series but the original Foundation trilogy was a read and a half. Add that to waiting a lifetime for the other books to come out in the Foundation saga, so much could go wrong with this but fingers crossed..

Long live the Encyclopedia Galactica.

Carl Sagan used the book as a background tool in the Cosmos series and Douglas Adams gave a nod to the books when writing the Hitchiker's guide.

If you are not a sci-fi buff then this new series coming up is the daddy of the genre.

It's OK. Patrick Stewart is showing his age, but he plays to that very well (eg gets out of breath running away) and there's some nice scenes with some of the old TNG crew, obviously to keep the fans happy. Story a bit hard to follow, but a lot easier than Discovery was.
Enjoyed Picard on the whole, but more looking forward to Strange New Worlds as I've always been a bigger fan of the original series era and thought Anson Mout did a good job playing Pike.

"Home Game" on Netflix looks good, about extreme / violent sports.

Get into them.

Said this on other threads but WATCH BOSCH

Also, I’ve always slated amazon but they are upping their game massively lately. Not put Netflix on for a while other than for the new series of F is for Family.

Seconded; Bosch is definitely worth a watch.

I’m also finding myself watching more Prime than Netflix too.

I need a new series, so hopefully one comes from this thread.

Watched the second series of Afterlife. I enjoyed the first one but this one felt a bit self indulgent if quite funny in places. I'm surprised a 3rd series is happening.

Not ashamed to admit I'm a sucker for a good show.

Hamilton on Disney+. Been looking forward to it all year but my show in London got cancelled due to the pandemic.

Good music and pretty emotional. I recommend

No. Seriously? Has to end now. To do a third is so against what Gervais usually stands for.

Where else can it go in all reality?

Very disappointed to hear that.

Yeah it suggested so in the closing credits, this series already felt like padding series 1
