There are studies in the US which show it would be more cost effective to simply house all of the homeless by comparison to all the secondary costs they incur. The foreign aid budget stands at around £10 billion. That could quite feasibly be cut in half or more and the money used to provide 'aid' to our own in need.

Though I'd much sooner we just have a higher minimum wage to address this issue and then commit to eliminating homelessness in its entirety

Fair enough. Ideally it'd be a mix of both rather than an either/or.

Why? I know an EU citizen who has lived here almost all their life, has paid tax and national insurance for over 40 years, runs his own business, has employed countless British people enabling them to pay tax and national insurance. What good reason can you give to deny him access to the NHS?

Maybe I’m dense but I don’t get why. Once we are out going back in is a lot less attractive than staying in on our special deal. Most people I talk to outside of politics just want it over with. What are Brexiters going to be demanding once we are out?
I agree with you. Maybe you are a bit dense

So would you spend the last 3 years telling us how bad Brexit is then vote for a party that wants it to happen? Of course not. So why do you think anyone who thinks strongly on the matter either way would think differently to yourself?

Am I writing in Greek or something? Can someone confirm they can understand the words I’m typing?

This is nothing to do with voting for anyone now or anything. What???

Are you saying that for the rest of time Britons will vote purely based on how people campaigned in a referendum in 2016?

I don’t care what your political views, you have to agree this is some of the cringiest stuff you’ve ever seen.

Tories trying to do Daily Show/Mash Report style stuff.

I think the party situation is more a reflection of where labour currently are to be honest. There is no way the Tories should have that sort of lead across the ‘working class’

Not really.

Labour increase spending. Borrowing and tax goes up. Tories cut spending and cut tax. Going into an election saying that you are going to raise tax is never a good idea.

To some extent you’re probably right BSB ! But for a posh boy to get the type of (current !) support from the working class, there must be a something more.....one is undoubtedly he’s not corbyn. Labour should be wiping the floor in recent years

If there is more middle/upper class support for labour than working class there is something fundamentally wrong

2) Tax cuts are spending.

This whole discussion is about whether the Tories will benefit post Brexit from their new voter base. The entire thing is about after Brexit. If you don’t want to have that conversation, fine. But don’t reply to a post about it.

Silly idea to say free to UK citizens only. Much easier and more sensible to have people produce their National Insurance details. Could even link some sort of credits to NI profiles dependent on how long you’ve paid in.

Austerity. You try telling someone who has to choose between feeding their kids and keeping them warm that it’s something else.

Yes, aged 7-11. He went to a grammar for secondary.

Are you saying Corbyn can’t be anti private schools because he went to one when he was 11?

You were accusing him of hypocrisy because he doesn’t want private education. But when he was an adult he didn’t choose private education for his kids.

There’s lots to criticise on that policy but this ain’t it chief.

So are you telling me you would vote for a party that wants to take us out of the EU? Do you think Shmmeee would vote for a party that would take us out of the EU? Do you think anyone on this thread that has been telling us for a few years why Brexit is so bad would vote for a party that would take us out of the EU?

Do you think anyone who has been saying how good it will be to leave the EU for the last few years would vote for a party that would have us remain in the EU?

I am not saying that it is what we should vote about. But you are blind to the truth if you think it won't happen.
