Final season coming up. I really cannot wait for it. Been completely ignoring everything in the build up, no trailers or anything to avoid spoilers.

Anybody know how to filter your internet/social media to avoid mentions of it?

Perhaps use a Spoiler Alert if this is true, OSB?

I think I read somewhere that they're getting the night king battle out the way quite early. I hope it's true because I prefer the human element and find Cersei and her motives a lot more sinister

Also I'll be interested to see how it works out with Gendry. Obviously son of Robert Baratheon (assumed bastard son).

But I reckon he's the "dead" child that Cersei refers to in S1Ep1. She claimed to Cat Stark that she never visited his grave but I think that's because he was never dead, he was just given away because she didn't want a true Baratheon child, only Jaime's. In which case he has a legitimate claim of the throne.

Great stuff.

Absolutely pitch perfect for me, that.

So many threads from the entire tale to try and tell and it could have easily been confusing, but I think they laid it all out superbly.

Very impressive opening.

Don't know what Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams have been eating though, because they both seem to have developed very pudgy hamster cheeks.

So pleased its back on the box! Was anybody else daft enough to watch it first thing this morning or get up at 2am to watch it when it aired?

A week... That's mental. Surely after the episode has aired on Sky, it's no longer a spoiler. Then full discussion is allowed. If you have not watched the episode, then you avoid this thread.

Yeah no spoilers before 10/11 on Monday evening then anything else is fair.
Watched it an hour or so ago. A good set up episode to remind you where all the pieces are and what’s happening. Didn’t expect them to drop the Jon shock first episode.
What I will say is that they’ve obviously spent so much money on it. Every scene is so rich and incredible looking. Even more so than before.

Good first episode but was disappointed with Kit's acting during the bombshell.

I thought it was a dull and just not up to standard.

The dragon ride was utterly pointless and like something out of a kids film.

The reunions were mostly odd with clunky dialogue.

Brann casually sitting around in the freezing cold staring at characters was unintentionally hilarious.

Maisie Williams (Arya) has turned into a really smug annoying character like Sansa.

Jon's reaction to Sam's big reveal was completely underwhelming because Kit Harrington cannot act, none of Stark children can, oddly enough.

There were some good moments but for a show of this stature it was poor stuff.

Hmmm..... totally disagree with that.

The episode has had many excellent reviews. I though it was excellent and also, Kit Harrington has been getting very good reviews for his theatre work lately. They were discussing it on 5Live the other day and I looked it up and he has been getting good plaudits in the press.

I have acted in the past and you have to realise that sometimes it is dictated to you how to play the lines. I've had it myself, where at times I think I have been awful and at others, very good. You are directed to play the role how the director or writer tells you.

I personally don't rate him that highly, but I think this is the way they want the character to be.

Anyway, I thought it was a great episode. It brought everything together and reintroduced us to all the characters perfectly.

True West starring Kit Harington and Johnny Flynn review at Vaudeville Theatre
'Kit Harrington gives his finest stage performance to date.'

True West review – Harington and Flynn star as Shepard's warring siblings

The Guardian calls him a fine actor.

New production of True West is an engaging dose of visceral elation

The Independent says he does fine work in his latest theatre piece.

The Independent also had this to say about his performance in the latest episode, so linking to the odd good review doesn't change the fact that he's ropey as hell.

"The big climax is Jon learning his heritage, the climax of a theory the most ardent fans of the books will have been wondering about since 1996. Kit Harington’s shortcomings as an actor are abundantly clear by this point, but we have to cheer the poor lad in, like that bloke in the Olympic swimming when everyone else was disqualified. Go on Kit, you can do it."

I'm genuinely glad you and others enjoyed it. I wish I had too. I was giddy with excitement today. Maybe I was too excited and expecting too much but I'm rooting for things to get better.

I disagree because the episode did everything it was supposed to do and flawlessly. I can't fault it in any way.

In other respects I agree it was was "dull" but how else where the scriptwriters supposed to reconnect fans to a series that has been off air for two years?

It was always going to be a catch up episode where we were reacquainted with the storylines.

The limb-spiral scene was really good!

Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans, anyone notice Mac's cameo? Mac knows the shows creators and both of them appeared in the water park episode. They returned the favour

Some good points fm, as I agree with the wishy-washy dragon ride, although rhe special fx were fantastic for that scene.

Jon Snows big news was slightly underwhelming too unfortunately, but like you I was expecting much more of a disbelieving, angry and confused Jon.

Looking back at Brann, that was also a bit lame too, but feel it was definitely more a catchup episode that was dumbed down slightly (perhaps more for casual fans?).

The rest was fookin ace though.

The woman actor with Bron was a bit eager, nearly snapped it off going at it like the clappers from the off.

I don't agree with some of this.

I think they got a lot of stuff out of the way quickly in this episode, including Jon riding the dragon, so they can move on in the enxt episode. They made some of the "re-unions" more down beat than fans hoped for, but to get them over with.

Bran sitting round may actually have some significance. The look he gave Tyrion was interesting. That could have been an "I know you will betray Daenerys and us all" look... maybe.

I thought him sitting there waiting for a "friend" was brilliant, especially when you realised who he meant at the end.

The thing I agree with was that I expected Jon to have more disbelief in what Sam told him. Anyone would surely? Like, how do you know this, what proof etc. nowt to do with his acting really, just the script.

I also thought they would focus more on daenerys getting the news the night king has Viserion now.

Remember the scene from Ace Ventura when he found out it was a man and everybody started being sick? He didn't even flinch finding out he had been smashing his aunt.

Do you know what I was thinking during the Disney dragon riding scene?

"We could have had five more minutes of Bronn porking those slags!"

Although the only moment of genuine intrigue for me in that episode was Bronn's dilemma regarding being sent to kill the Lannister bros. That's going to be interesting.
