It’s quite a change. Previous FT articles on us were basically ‘How not to run a football club’. Now it’s more like ‘How to run a football club’.

Just thinking a little more about this and what Doug’s done cannot be taken lightly. Before my time but my late dad was heavily involved in the supporters club in the 60’s. He used to go round the working men’s clubs with players that were injured or not selected selling Sky Blue Pool tickets, which I think was quite unique amongst clubs at the time. Hill and Robbins (Derek that is) were forward thinkers but at a time when there was less disparity between clubs and huge TV deals and mega-owners didn’t exist. It was all about gate receipts and pies, and whatever else they could dream up between them. A little effort could move the needle a lot. Doug’s doing this against much more difficult backdrop - huge disparity among clubs, impact of parachutes, billionaire owners and rule benders. A lot of effort sometimes only moves the needle a little. If we can hold our own for a bit, he’s well on the way to becoming the second messiah. Uniting the club and ground was key, and he’s pulled round a dwindling disenfranchised fanbase into something potentially massive. Fair play Doug.

Genuinely think the best things he’s done is backtracked when he’s made his very few mistskes

the other is making the product far more lucrative success but also saying it costs money to compete and everyone needs to pay what they can to make it happen

Great article ,what with the chat between him and Frank, the chat with Henry Winter and Christian Purslow it's obvious he's driven and certainly knows what he's doing.
For the 1st time since Derek Robbins I believe we have a genuine owner who wants to make money of cors but he has the club and community at the forefront of every decision.
When you compare our owner to a lot of the others , we are very lucky.
