I think the one think they will baulk at is signing players with all the strength of half a pint of double diamond.
They knew Sheaf’s fitness record when they signed him. In fact, in his only CCFC appearance he came off injured minutes after coming on. You couldn’t make it up.

I think we will keep most of the squad. Rushworth will go back, Esse and Mini will go back, Bidwell, Brau, Allen, Simms, Bassette, Raphael and Wolfenden will be released or sold. We will bring in a keeper likely Rushworth or Trafford, a left back - Chilwell, a midfielder - Barkley, a couple of wingers - Azeez and Fatawu would be a good shout, and maybe a striker

No idea what Lampard wants in terms of numbers & names....but I would think we would be spending "big", up to 20million , on only 2 or 3 players & that will be our lot.
We ain't buying 10 players, not a chance.

Then we stay up by the skin of our teeth.
If we only sign 2 or 3 players we’d be candidates to beat Derby’s low points record.

Think he signed a new deal a couple of months ago but the length of the deal was not declared??? Could be wrong !

I thought the same, but maybe was thinking of the deal last April.

We paid 4m for both. We had competition fo both. Both are top end championship defenders.

And? Leicester paid £23m for Daka does that translate to what clubs would pay for him - no.

In reality Wolfenden had one good season in the Championship for Ipswich and then played a bit part role in the PL. This season he's been on the whole pretty poor.

So it's difficult to assess his actual quality at this level. I suspect it's probably somewhere in between the two. Either way I don't see clubs queuing for his signature in the summer if that's the fee we'd demand and we'd have to take a fairly sizeable loss on him if we wanted to move him on.

Kitching is albeit a different scenario as he's fairly decent at this level - vastly overrated by some - but nonetheless decent. I think we'd probably get what we paid for him there or there abouts though as he's coming up to 27 this season so his resale value is likely near enough gone and his performances have at times been pretty patchy (hence why he was dropped for our 4th choice CB).

Cant find anything online about this. Would be a bit weird to sign an extension then sign another six months later.

MvE Kitching and Dasilva did sign another extension whose length wasn’t disclosed which might be what you’re thinking of.

Definitely, Blues would probably pay 20 million for him given some of the sums they've splashed on dogshit strikers
From the information I heard, there was a bit of a cock up.

Someone was tasked with bringing a face to the club to up the club's profile and they were supposed to have recruited...

But they got ..

Instead.

And not only is he not very good on a football pitch, he also looks terrible in a feather boa too.

The one thing the pair do have in common, is that they do both get quite a lot of bookings.

I think your underrated the transfer inflation going on in the championship. The average signings are costing around 3.5-5m. Teams like Stoke and Watford would definitely go for someone like Woolfenden as would Derby and Cardiff. Hull, Preston and Bristol fit into that category aswell

Exactly this. We’ve signed 3 reserves this season and the cheapest was £3.5m

KKH was likely intended to be a first choice RB with MVE seemingly close to moving on.

Woolfenden was a panic signing as we put all our eggs in one basket with Hughes but we desperately needed depth.

Markelo i strongly suspect the upfront fee is nowhere near the reported total package.

Oh well if we can do this then I reckon everything was twice as much and we got an absolute bargain 🙄

The average age of arrivals this summer in the Championship was about 25.

So for the most part a lot those types of fees would likely have been paid on players that age or younger which means Championship clubs on the whole prefer to pay decent fees for both potential and resale value.

Then there's those which are happy to fork out for the likes of Tanganga but that's obviously less common.

Wolfenden is 28 this year and Kitching 27 so both are likely at their peak and due to their respective ages have a reduced resale value. And neither are really good enough to warrant huge fees just based on talent alone.

Ha, yes. He was on as a sub for 7 minutes before going off injured. Brilliant bit of business getting that much for him.

Yes but who? Hughes?

Think we’d need an experienced premier league CB to go alongside Thomas.

We’ve got the starting ingredients for a decent team, MVE, Thomas i think could make the step up with someone next to him, Grimes, Onyeka, Rudoni, EMC, Wright.

I think the key is getting experienced players to be able to integrate with what we already have.

Only have to look at Sunderland with Xhaka.

We will be spending a lot of money, but transfer fees are normally paid in instalments these days. We would have the money coming in over the next 3 years minimum to pay for it.

I don't see a problem with giving Lampard £100m to build a squad. On top of this there's any money coming in from players sold, but can't see this being very much as we will need to keep our best players.

I can see King taking a calculated risk. I can also see Lampard leaving if he isn't going to get sufficient funds to have a chance of staying up.
