I'm certain we're not finished and we'll have a decent squad when the window is over. I also realise we've done a lot more than Forest but it doesn't take away the worry going into the first game.

I think that we look better going forward, possibly similar but with less backup in the middle and the goalkeeper is a question mark.

The defence has undoubtedly gone backwards though. I really thought we'd have bought two starters in early in the window, not been with no new players at all, not even backups, a few days before the first game.

I'd be stunned if no new centre backs arrive before the window closes. We need an extra CM too being truthful but that'll have to wait

It's not really. If you look back at the league 2 gates it's great growth. We need to win back those extra fans. It's still a season like no other more so for us than any other club. It will be interesting to see how it goes attendance wise.

What else do people need to be won back?

We're back at the Ricoh. Back playing big teams. Back in the Championship after 2 promotions. 2 Wembley wins.

The excuses are running out.

This reflects a lot of teams in the championship going into the new campaign. About a third of the league are yet to sign more than 1 player after releasing a lot more.

Obviously we’re all focused on our team, but we seem to be in a better situation than a lot of clubs.

Forest finished below us yet have only signed 1 player. Doesn’t look great going into the season.

Out of interest, how many fans do you think there are who the club have not won back? Considering it’s the most STs we’ve sold since 1970

People like you need a reality check, there's a "hardcore" fan base of around 12k, and that's it!
It doesnt matter how cheap the season tickets are, you arnt selling more than 12k max!
It's not a case of people needing excuses, people in Coventry just arnt bothered enough to attend regularly, so that's exactly why sisu have built the business model around realistic attendances.
I'd be suprised if we fill more than 3/4 of the stadium for the first game back.
And come the Preston game in the middle of winter, you wouldn't fill 3/4 of the ground if you gave the tickets away!

If we’ve got 10,000 season ticket holders, there’s at least 5-7k fans who walk up. With that amount of season ticket holders the average should be around what it was when the Ricoh first opened.

disappointed if we’re not matching the 21-22k we were then

Anyone can say what they like about our recruitment, but I’d rather be in our situation than theirs.

Then you’ve got clubs like Derby, Blackburn, Swansea and Reading who are all significantly weakened over the summer.

We’ve got a good young squad so players like COH, Hamer, Sheaf, Walker, Gyo (and so on) are likely to get develop and get better too.

Does all that good stuff mean they’ll take the game off TV and chop a tenner off prices?

I don’t understand why people think there’s missing fans. We’ve sold 10k STs, most for 40 years.

We’ll probably get 17-18k average, again pretty much what we’ve had every year in the Premier League/Championship.

I actually think there are some really badly run clubs in this league, atrocious actually. We are a lot better in that sense, but our budget is smaller.

I have a lot of faith in our management team and they've got a huge amount of credit in the bank. I'm just nervous about out back line. It was a total calamity most of last season.

That “hardcore” would rise very quickly if we do very well next season, then you have to keep them.

It’s false to say that your ‘hardcore support’ never moves, we were down under 10k in L2.

All depends on what happens on the pitch, and very few of us have ever seen any kind of success on the pitch. There isn’t a more cynical/hard to impress bunch (and probably quite rightly) out there than our fans

Exactly. We’re on here and talking to each other but that’s preaching to the converted.

There are thousands that will “see how it goes”, and a lot of them aren’t going to pay £30 when they can watch for free or in a pub.

The big name player won’t work, we signed Joe Cole and charged £20 less and that didn’t tempt people back

Because a glimpse of success and thousands more show up. You said yourself you see us as comparable to Stoke City, when they had their great run they were 27-30k every week. They are out there.

The fact we don’t have any tradition of huge season ticket sales is not the same as saying we have no fans.

Prepare to be dissappointed. They don't just come automatically back - they have got out of the habit in the meantime, and have found other pursuits to fill time. It might change if we threatened to get in the play offs.

But why suddenly go to watch a struggling team? People do have other things to do with their cash. It is not helped by how ghastly the stadium is. It may be in Coventry but it is still a crap stadium. There is a better atmosphere in my local supermarket

100%

I understand people's concerns, there are still some glaring holes at CB & CDM (whilst Kelly & Eccles are out) but on the whole we're okayish. These are problems we're aware of & actively looking to address but can't magic the signings out of the ether, we need the parent clubs to agree to let them go. I'm certain we'll have at least 2 more bodies in, probably 3, before the end of the window & hopefully at least one sooner rather than later.
