I think season we will see about 3/4 teams trying to get that 2nd spot. And thwy will be close. Can see 3/4 teams finshing on 78/83 pts. 2nd place 8mid eighties and winners 90 plus.

Play off will be minimum 75 points really high this year and an almighty battle.

Its in our advantage as we got points on the board.

Im looking from point of view of third place team..currently Millwall.

Cant see them getting 1.93 ppg to get to 85 points. Not on their current form.

Everyone else practically 2ppg and above.

Thats not even taking into consideration goal difference.

So basically 1.5ppg will get us to 85 points which will undoubtedly be enough for 2nd spot.
I'm starting to think more and more that 85 might do it. I just don't see any of the non-parachute teams getting close.

That leaves Ipswich who I still think will. Leicester who are a basket case with a deduction pending, and then Southampton. They need 2.2 ppg from here after averaging 1.3 so far. I just don't see it.

Its mad to think that 1.5 from here would give us a real chance of automatics.

I don't think any team in the division will win 11 out of 12 games, so what we have achieved so far is incredible. We have to pick up only 1 point from 5 games and 2 other teams win all 5 of their games for us to drop out of the top 2. That's very unlikely to happen.

West Brom and Bournemouth had similar starts to us and they were poor for the second half of the season and both still finished 2nd. We have a huge head start and it will take something extraordinary for us to not finish in the top 2.

I think we need the form and PPG of 14th place for the rest of the season to go up automatically.

On current run rates, we would be mathematically promoted by around GW 38. That is at the end of March.

Imagine how amazing April would be, going into ever game knowing we're already promoted but still with the title to aim for

Updated.

Of the 'challengers' all bar Middlesbrough and Millwall need to perform at a minimum of a 99 point season from here on to reach 90 points.

If we believe the bookies, Ipswich are expected to be our biggest challengers. They need 2.17 ppg from here compared with our 1.68 to hit 90.

For those worried about Southampton they'd probably have to win 21/22 of their last 28 to make that milestone.

not just that, but all the other teams need to perform at a better PPG (to hit either the 90 or 85 points) than they have to-date. We are the only club that can afford to average less PPG. Incredible!
