Flatter to Deceive (3 Viewers)

Is Kelly also an underwhelming player who flatters to deceive then? Just trying to keep this thread on topic.

No as he’s not costing over 10 grand a week

Why? They hardly threatened? We showed that we are easily competitive in every area but upfront.

James is like putting gold furry dice in a lada windscreen and ignoring the fact we have to win a road race with a knackered underperforming engine up front.

Get a new engine instead

Part of the reason they hardly threatened was James' positional sense was so good. Great anticipcation.

Nonsense we were the dominant force and would have won with a real striker in the middle

I don’t think he adds any more than Kelly and it’s a pointless signing given the mess we are in

Maybe not but the point is KELLY'S OUT INJURED AND CAN'T PLAY. We needed a similar, experienced head in there to replace him and he's done that. If/when Kelly returns maybe they'd be great together at the base of the box and give O'Hare and Hamer more freedom. Maybe they'll be too similar and be treading on each others boots. But I hope we get the chance to try it out.

A lot of truth in that statement. A fit Kelly would surely start ahead of James and in response to an earlier hypothetical question, I would definitely prefer a Charlie Austin over a Matty James.

But it’s ok to have a lumbering clueless buffoon at number 9 rather than trying to find a half decent alternative

Like the international Gyokeres? They were also confident Walker would be back soon and at the time it was hoped Godden's injury would only be short term.

This thread isn't about Max. It's about how James flatters to deceive in your opinion. Something which we are all enjoying you being proven drastically wrong about.

It's ok to admit you were wrong from time to time. We all make mistakes or errors of judgement. You'd be a lot more credible if you admitted you were wrong from time to time.

Kelly has also only featured in 11 games and again it’a using limited resources to create improvement in results - let’s see if they improve

Your point was that he was an underwhelming player who flatters to deceive. Clearly neither is true, but your attempts to pivot to a different argument are fun all the same.

I was going to use the title Vigil In A Wildeness of Mirrors but that might have looked a tad pretentious

Murray
Green
Austin
Cosgrove

Would you have signed any of these and tried to outbid the clubs who went for them?

So if Kelly's only featured in 11 games due to injury then we needed to get someone in to cover for him then didn't we?

Would you have signed any of these and tried to outbid the clubs who went for them?

Or would you have tried to sign the latest Ollie Watkins for a couple of million?

well no as we’ve played most games without him

The real point of this thread is not to criticise James. Grendel is actually having a go a Robins without mentioning his name.

Grendel is still smarting over his "Taxi for Robins" thread which nosedived because Robins got us promoted as Champions.

Grendel is desperate for Robins to fail.

We don't have a couple of million to do that

Well yes we do if we didn’t sign James and we decided to actually use loans from the owners to sign him

also it’s not £2 million up front and if we stayed up he’d pay for himself

Grendel

You wanted us to ask for several million to bring in an unproven player-this conversation is done.

So if we’d signed Ollie Watkins Mk 2 you’d be moaning we should not bother and stick with biamou

Fine that’s your view - I think differently

Come on, you’re really not as thick as you’re demonstrating here.

Sorry? Do you think Oliver Norwood was a good addition when he signed for us?

Thick comment seeing as we needed someone in the Kelly mould to replace Kelly....think about what you're saying

Grendel

He was, as it goes. Don’t see how that is relevant to this nonsense idea that if we hadn’t signed James we’d be able to spend £2m on a striker.

Because we still got relegated as we had Clive platt upfront...

Again Kelly has played 11 games - do you need to replace Kelly as a priority or biamou
