This is interesting

The gap between the haves and have-nots in the game has never been bigger. Never mind differences in skill, strength and fitness, new Mail on Sunday figures reveal that a pay chasm has emerged between players in the Premier League and the Football League that is growing at a frightening pace.
Top-flight earnings have shot up by more than 200 per cent since 2000 despite a world recession, leaving everyone else behind and reaching a level which has raised questions about the game’s financial sustainability.
The new figures show that:
Average Premier League wages have reached £22,353 a week - before lucrative bonuses - or £1.16million a year.
Average Championship earnings are £4,059 a week (£211,068 a year), less than a fifth of players one division above.
In the bottom division, League Two, their weekly pay of £747 is not much more than the national average.
League Two earnings are also 30 times smaller than those in the Premier League.

feck you'e a miserable sod

Not sure who your referring to, but do tell what there is to look forward to ?

Filing of the accounts ?
The hope to sign players in next few weeks ?
Yeovil away ?
Holding a charity to ransom over the arena ?

So a net of 2 on our current squad ?

That's not what I want, or what I think is enough.

I think we need 7 to 10.

However if he is trying to say we have the biggest wage budget as an excuse nit to bring in more. Ie the last team that went up had a wage bill of 4 million.

Then when we lose those lot he can't argue about us signing replacements and more as we would still stay under that 4 million. As they are some if our biggest earners

They can play the game how they want, as they own us. Accounts will be a big tell. At 4 million a year of wages, with an income of "0" they would struggle to lose 500k a month.

I wouldn't really count Hreidarsson when listing players we've lost. Any of us were a quick streak from getting as much time on the pitch as him last season.

i don't mean we'll miss him performance wise, i mean't more in terms of bodies i.e. that he was the only back up left back in the squad and now we need a new back up left back.

don't forget we have already lost Platt, Eastwood, Clingan and Herman..not to mention nimley and norwood
That's what I really want to know does the 4 million include them or is that now with what we have left.

The shame is I really dont trust TF with figures at the moment. He uses them a bit like the politicians do.
Did someone have his email address?

4 million on wages, 1.2 million on rent. With "0" income, that means our 500k lose a month is bang on

Shame we get no income at all !!

i very much doubt that the £4m includes them - them leaving would have saved over a £1m (eastwood £10k pw - £520k, clingan £8k pw - £416k, Herman £4k? -£208k?, Platt - £3k? - £156k total approx - £1.3m)

if you believe what the CET saying that our wage bill was nearer to £5m then losing those players would have taken us to the £4m budget. then it would depend on what wage reduction in the relegation clause to how much lower than that £4m figure we are at now.

Thanks.

So the best we can hope for to stay under the 4 million is lose between 3-6 players

And gain 5-8 respectively.

all depends on what the relegation clause is if any is in the players contracts. If they lose approx 15% the that would make our current wage bill (if the telegraph were right) around £3.4m. The average league one player's on about £1400k per week (approx £75k per annum), so their may be potential to bring in 4-6 players before selling.

Call me cynical, however based on Coventry city's board past financial decisions. Do you think we had the business sense to include relegation clauses :thinking about:

This is all guesswork, the key is how much the big 4 who are definately in these figures are on - wood, baker, mcsheffrey and especially bell. I would be very surprised if their collective earnings falls below £1. 2 million. We then have Keogh, deegan, murphy, McDonald as seasoned professionals. Others such as Clarke, hussey and Cameron will be less but you would think will be above the average in league one. Cranie may be included as the norm is that contracts run up to the end of June. So the figure sounds plausible and alarming.

You'd see one group of players grafting there bollox off and giving 100% and another group of useless overpaid twats poncing about waiting for the full time whistle. The players that some of your one eyed people think are the dogs are a disgrace and do not deserve to where the shirt.

Two teams in the play offs last year, one had a wage budget of £1.4m, another over £4m, ours is nearer the £4m.side.

There are 4 teams in the play-offs.. so maybe the other 2 had £6M wage budgets?
Such clever words that mean nothing without the full facts.

What are the wages in league one? Here is an interesting table. So about £1,500/week.
That sums to around £2.5M for a squad of 30 averagely paid players. The table is basics, I guess bonuses are on top of that!

He did not say our transfer budget would be £4m. He said our wage budget would be closer to £4m than £1.4m. He is talking about the total wage budget of all CCFC employees; players, manager, shop staff, tea lady, the lot. The season before last this total wage budget was around £8.5m. SISU's task was to drop it down to £3.5m last season. If he says that it is closer to £4m than £1.4m, I guess that would mean our total wage bill for the year is between £2.7m and £4m. It will have been reduced again, so I would suggest it is closer to the former. As for our transfer budget, I would be surprised if we spent anything upwards of about £750k on players this season and we would undoubtedly have to lose the bigger earners for this concession to be made. Finally, what is all this bullshit name calling and back and forth about Thorn / SISU about? I know it is silly season, but we have done all this and it is getting a bit ridiculous now. Keep it up and you will lose valued posters like me to bigtittedportuguesebabes.com.

He says a team had a budget of £8m.in the playoffs and are now budgeting £4m. for this season,he can't mention FFP rules often enough ,he says the playing budget is closer to £4m.,not overrall budget, but can't reveal as sensative ,after just revealing two other clubs budgets that he discovered from cosy chats with other CEO's,how to get a competative edge hey.
Add on boardroom all other employees ,rent etc. Shortfall =£2m.+

Did he mention FFP only counts for new players we sign, nit existing contracts.

That is our one edge.

Am I right in thinking that ffp only applies to 'football related income'?

If so owning the Ricoh would make very little difference as all the concert & conferencing money wouldn't be able to go towards the team.

He keeps using ffp as a smokescreen, if ffp is just football income (ie tickets) then ours should be amongst the highest in the division anyway.
