Wenger did so much good for English football but I'm fairly sure he started the antipathy towards cup competitions we see today.

Of course there are other factors but if I remember correctly that was the beginning of the decline.
Surely it was Man Utd pulling out in 1999 to play in the Club World Cup!

That came later. And definitely contributed.
But if you look into that I'm not sure the narrative they pulled out is correct.
Fairly sure they had pressure put on them to play in order to support the world cup bid.
Ferguson didn't want to do it.

So he got away with it because Haaland was going wide? Surely it was only going away from the goal because that's where Henderson knocked it, no?
Meant he wouldn’t get a red card for being last defender denying a goal scoring opportunity. Was still a handball so should have been a free kick from an eminently scorable position.
