@oldfiver Thanks, I have seen that one. It’s the reports for IEC Experience and Wasps Holdings that I’m after.

But as you say yourself I don't think it's even in CCC area (Rugby?). Green Belt land, massive development, access requirements, environmental assessments etc. needed, possible call-in by the Government. Really not something that individuals in neighbouring CCC could influence much or make meaningful promises n advance.

Frasers Group in confident mood as it delivers bumper half-year profits

Frasers Group PLC (LSE:FRAS) said it remains confident of delivering full-year pre-tax profits of between £450mln to £500mln as it posted bumper interim profits bucking the weak retail environment.
“Whilst the macroeconomic environment is clearly challenging and the backdrop for the coming year is hard to predict with any certainty, we have strong strategic and trading momentum behind us and we remain confident in our guidance,” David Daly, Frasers non-executive chairman said in the results statement.
The FTSE 100-listed retailer, owned by Mike Ashley, saw pre-tax profits rise by 38.8% to £267.1mln in the half-year to 23 October 2022 while group revenues advanced 12.7% to £2,638mln.
Analysts a City broker Liberum Capital described the numbers as "very impressive when set against the strong prior year period and tough trading backdrop."
The owner of Sports Direct said UK Sports Retail revenue increased by 11.6%, largely due to the acquisition of Studio Retail while Premium Lifestyle revenue rose 24.7%, largely due to new Flannels stores and continued growth online.
Margins did come under pressure, dropping to 42.0% from 44.7% reflecting mix effects, strong comparatives, cost of goods inflation, and a maintained inventory provision percentage.
Further expansion is likely in 2023 with the group planning growth “ both organically and through disciplined acquisitions” with “a number of opportunities currently being assessed” in Europe.
Frasers said it intends to invest around £600mln in a new distribution centre and offices in Coventry, with the acquisition of the CBS Arena in the city being part of this strategy.
No dividend was paid.

David Daly is a non-executive Director at Fulham.

Which now makes me worry that if they do take us over Jimmy Hill is going to have Michael Jackson for company!!

But not in a way that suggests anyone at CCC can pre-empt the planning process in a neighbouring area.

Car parks etc.

Simon Jordan was on about the council having deals for xy and z in the location. The carpark could be redeveloped as something, perhaps a distribution centre, there is

I know a lot of people think Jordan is a spam hammer but if he did make enquiries then this sort of fits. I remember him mentioning wayyy back before wasps went pop something to do with property development etc and that the council had earmarked the plot for retail or housing.

If he was saying it for clout these specific details seem a bit much. I'd imagine would be litigious if false and they're literally on record.

The "Council"? Please define

It was widely said that interested parties were being told development opportunities were available to successful purchasers

Yeah, I’ve been doing that. Bondholders are making reference to the WHL report so it must be out even if not filed yet.

They’ll be invoked Calista, they’ll be involved. The council knows all, sees all, is almost omnipotent (unless your bins need collecting).

Look here’s Martin Reeves on the left:

Run a venue and make £100m in, erm, 15 years (being generous).

Run a Championship club and make £100m in less than 12 months.

No brainer really, innit?

Do you have any examples of people who’ve bought Championship clubs and made £100m profit in less than 12 months?

I’m sure if it’s such a great business deal then there’ll be loads more people beyond Mike Ashley who’ll want to buy us!

Just a thought, in amongst all the fuckaboutery, has the pitch been looked after or have the groundsmen been excluded from the Stadium?
If we get next weeks game on, we can’t afford the pitch to be screwed again, anyone got any insider info?

Given past anti CCFC actions of the Council, can you see they would have any objections to an Ashley proposal to demolish the Arena and build a mega store and associated outlets on the site?
They would bend over backwards to get it done if it screwed SISU, despite all the talk of wanting the Club in the City

I think there would be blockages to any change of use via DCMS and Sport England. If there was a proposal for change of use, then a replacement facility would need to be in place prior to any redevelopment.

Would be a hell of a 180 for Gary Ridley alone!

Goes against the local plan and therefore planning law and would have judicial reviews up the wazoo

I'm not worried from the point of view that it makes zero sense for either side to kick us out but also worried from the point of view that every time we think surely it won't happen it does and we end up in Northampton, Birmingham or Burton
