true, but there are also Spaniards and Italians involved who fully understand the history and traditions of the game but are trying to push ahead with this bollocks anyway.

Aren’t Inter involved? They’ve got Chinese owners these days.

How would ‘the big 6’ be decided though? Arsenal have got no right to label themselves a top 6 club these days.

Best thing about this is if it dose happen, you’ve all been shitting yourselves all season for nothing, because they’ll be no relegation just promotion to make the numbers up.

And therein lies the danger. This is most likely a scare tactic to get something lesser, with everyone duped into thinking “well it could have been worse”. Call their bluff, fuck them off, none of this banning players nonsense. Daniel Levy’s head will fall off after the 3rd year of finishing bottom of the league.

I’m hearing conflicting things.
Is the plan to not play in the domestic league anymore or have this new bollocks instead of playing in the champions league?

Either way, no way is it happening. Great move by FIFA as well in response.

I’ll answer myself.

The plan isn’t to breakaway from domestic football.

This issue raises its head every now again that’s how the Premier league eventually got here the big six then included Villa, Leeds & Everton they have been replaced by Spurs, Man City & Chelsea doubt it will happen but I suspect the big boys are after some sort of change, “B” teams perhaps it has been talked about. Should it happen let it, the prem is a super league anyway you get the occasional surprise like Leicester but the same teams generally share all the silver ware and soon in my opinion one club Man City will be winning doubles and trebles a every season.

but it looks as though they'll be thrown out of domestic competitions if they press ahead with this.
That's if the authorities stick to their guns, which they probably won't.

So the Champions’ League would just be closed off essentially?

Annoying for teams like Leicester really. Won the league recently, CL qualifiied again this year most likely, now FA Cup final, but from the less fashionable midlands. Wtf have Spurs won for a generation? Stories like Leicester are what makes football exciting. I know they're local rivals, but having dreams, even Wimbledon back in the day from non league to the top division. There's enough greed already and this could kill even the sky bubble of the haves and have nots.

That’s not confirmed tbf. Just what I’m gathering reading around.

I assume the CL and Europa league would continue as normal. But without the ‘big 6’.

the Champions League would carry on I think, just none of these clubs would be involved, though for Arsenal, Spurs and United that would mean any change!

Yeah they’d have much more right to be in it rather than the likes of Spurs and Arsenal. It’s just a load of shite that’s got nothing to do with sport.

That’s the worry with this, that they’re using it as a scare tactic to get their way and the authorities cave.

I hope they call their bluff or they just fuck off. It’s so boring hearing about it all the time. Let them have their tourist plaything and leave football for the rest of us.

This. Rivalry aside, what Leicester did is what football fans in general can aspire to. Ok, they have a billionaire owner and I get that that shouldn’t exactly be a prerequisite of a football club, but they built up slowly, didn’t fuck a load of money at it, and we’re rewarded as a result of excellent on- and off-field management.

Think it would still exist, just these 12 teams will compete in an opposing competition that's closed off. The likes of Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, etc will still be in Champions League.

Leicester only won the league due to millions of £ pumped in by a Thai fella who ran casinos, it's about as much of a fairytale as Silence of the Lambs.

I get that and I don't like them nor the way they went bust twice before, but their players at that time were so far behind the bug six in terms of perception of the quality of players, the money spent and the salaries.Even until a couple of games to go, many including myself still thought it wouldn't happen and was definitely a football fairytale imo

How will that work? What happens when you get a situation where a club like Leicester win the league or if one of these clubs end up getting relegated at some point in the future?

Let them go and reinvent football in this country. Now could be the time.

Of course the glamour of the ties at United and Liverpool would be gone but there's plenty of other big clubs in this country with huge fan bases.

You may lose the TV fans and the money from Sky would drop quite quickly but the football would level out a little better.

Well pretty obviously these teams want to opt out the champions league and have a super league between then as a closed ship
