Looked pretty good for me, touch deserted him 2nd half with continually having a heavy touch but looked decent, hope he gets a proper run in the team over Wright, that missed sitter last night was incredible after watching it back on TV, live , it looked a bit of a difficult chance.

i cannot get over how when Wright missed the sitter he never reacted adversily! he just walked away nonchantly. I dont think he takes orders to well personally and looks as if he carries a "fuck you attitude".

If he whipped out his dick and flayed himself, would that have been satisfactory for you?

I'd sooner he used his dick to score with, like Ayari did.

Players are going to miss I would rather he doesn’t give a shit about than start apologising to people in social media.

Seems a shame that most of the comments about Simms are currently on the wrong (Wright!) thread.
As someone who saw a lot of positives with Vik even during his loan spell (although I can't claim to have forseen quite how good he could be), I have to say I have similar feelings about Simms at this early stage. Don't judge him on his modest scoring record so far. Look at the pace, strength, willingness and desire to score. Look at how he can work shooting opportunities and how he can strike a ball (usually better than Vik IMO). Support the guy, and hopefully quite soon he'll be banging them in as often as Gyokeres did.

100% he’s got all the attributes to be a superb striker. Adi and MR will get him firing

I assume this is a reference to my posts. I am not criticising him and am actually making the point that he needs to be given time. I don't get why some posters keep saying he shoukd start every match at the expense of Wright and Godden. Also I don't understand how people feel we can get by with three forwards one of whom has had a slow start to his career with us.

It's not like I am coming out with abuse targeted at players like Wright, Kelly and Eccles. In my view Simms needs time to develop.

After the other nights efforts I could see why he should start ahead of Godden( hat trick incoming today).

The fact is Godden has been pretty poor since his purple patch at the start of the season. Godden has played every game and almost twice as many minutes as Simms. I really don’t get this “give him time” argument.

Yeah, I’ve always liked Godden and he is still the best finisher but I know who’d I’d rather be marking as a defender. Wright and Simms together could be a proper handful

A bit of paranoia there Deleted member 9744!
I honestly didn't have you in mind, as I don't fixate on who said what on here (apart from when people get properly offensive towards our players).
I happen to really like both Simms and Wright, and feel they've both had some insane criticism from a number of posters, that's all

Edit: I too think we need another forward to give us more options and cover for injuries

Wingers/Forwards. They’ll play where Wright and Saka have played, I’d imagine at least one will be fine as a striker.

Simms godden wright could all play central role. Makes sense to get some wide forwards in

I don’t think you can play all three. Simms looks less of a natural footballer to me than the other two. At the moment though I’d play him ahead of Godden purely on a greater contribution basis.

I do know what you mean by this, he has a slight awkwardness about him. Having said that I do like him and when the ball is played in front of him to run onto seems to be where his strengths appear. He seems to be also getting more stuck in to tackles over the last couple of games and doing what I guess you'd call the "dirty work" which is good to see.

Out of the three strikers I think he’s the most likely to pick up the ball from a distance and batter his way through to goal.

I'm hoping he's getting the Gyok treatment when Biamou was keeping him out the of team and they're getting him to the level needed.

Feel like we'll see him have an extended run in the team soon. Godden has been a great servant to the club but I'd be surprised if he is still starting by the latter end of this season.

Simms will be the guy in demand. Its a travesty he's not been getting as much game time a Godden/Wright for last 6 games or so.

Right. Happy to get dog's abuse for any suggestions I make, but the fella's trying and I think he lives near me, so I'm saying it: bloke deserves a tune!

Even if it's just so I don't have to listen to football fans trying to sing f*cking Joy Division again, it'll be worth it. Makes me want to rip my ears off.

Idea 1: Greg Downs reprise
Ellis, Ellis Simms
Ellis, Ellis Simms
He's got big hair and we don't care
Ellis, Ellis Simms

Idea 2: novelty 80s bullsh*t
ELL-LLIS...Simms, Simms, Simms
Number 9 for Coventry
Ellis Simms, Simms, Simms
Said 'Ta ra!' to the Toffees

Idea 3: derivative bullsh*t
Simms is on fire
Your defence is terrified

Possibly not totally sh*t ideas and hopefully simple enough that they might stick. I hate idea 3 but anything beats what he's getting at the minute!
