I don’t care about the reaction, waste of money! Everton rubbing their hands to the bank. Comparing him to vik who cost a fraction of the price is quite frankly ridiculous. Poor signing!

So he's a clown because he's watched a footballer play shit 4 times in a row? I'd say he's living a far more realistic world than you.

No you haven't you fucking liar. You're just too much of a drip to have an opinion that doesn't conform with the rest of your forum mates.

If he actually gets the service at some point he’ll score goals.

There’s gonna be some real humble pie come the end of the season. He will come good, his movement is fantastic and there’s been a couple of great runs that he’s just not been fed through on. Think he’ll be good and the knee jerk reactions are embarassing

In service you mean someone else skins a few, takes it round the keeper and leaves it on the line so he can toe poke it in.

Asked if he thinks the striker will be a big player in the division, Mowbray told CoventryLive after the weekend’s goalless draw: “I had Ellis from September to January and then he went back to Everton. He scored seven really important goals for me.

“I think he is great. What he does is work his socks off for every game and runs the channels. I think he has still got a lot to learn, he is still a young boy, but he will give you everything every game and chase everything down and use that physicality and he will score goals for you.

“Whether he will score 25 is another question but he will bring real honesty to the position and integrity. I had him for four months. I didn’t know him that well but some of his seven goals were pretty important for us.

“As a striker he gets into positions. He is a young player who needs to grow his career and has got the right coach working with him, I’m sure.”

Simms made way for Haji Wright with just over 20 minutes to go against the Black Cats when the USA international almost snatched a winner in a lively contribution from the bench.

Explaining his selection decision to pick Simms over Wright to face Sunderland, Coventry manager Mark Robins said: “Ellis has been brilliant in training this week. He’s been really good. His levels have gone up again, which is great to see because it’s obvious that he hadn’t done a great deal before he came here and he’s obviously playing catch-up.

“But I need them all to be bubbling to get close to top level, and that’s only going to come with games and a bit of time, but I think he was better, and he has been better this week.”

He added: “He had a chance when he came inside and you are thinking he might just take that extra touch and then hit it.”

Asked if he fancied him to do well against his former loan club, Robins said: “Well it’s not just that because I look at the performances in training that I see every day. And it was the right call to start him in this game today. I also have to think about what comes next and I am going to need them. When I need him and call upon him and expect him to do a job it’s not going to happen if he’s not played.”

One thing been ignored in all the above threads,
Sunderland’s defence was excellent yesterday and marked Simms very tight, perhaps he could work the line more drifting from wing to wing that’s for the training ground to work on.
He’ll be fine.

It is still early days, let’s see how things look after a dozen matches. The signs are not great at the moment though and as someone else said if another player hands him a tap in it’s still not going to make him value for money for me, he’s gonna have to up his game tenfold . If it’s any consolation to Simms I don’t think Wright looks like a £7m player either .
Both following the Lord Mayors show though so was always a big ask.

We’ve had a v difficult start to the season with a new team. That’s promising.

We’ve got a lot of players new to the Championship - only Lati & Simms from our signings. Even Simms hasn’t had much game time since last Feb.

Our team is a few signings away and we’re in a better spot a lot of people think.

Let’s be honest if we weren’t playing a team of cloggers he’d probably have scored when put through if he hadn’t been hacked down.

It’s bizarre that one 22 year old in the squad is seen as a youngster and one for the future, yet another has been marked down as a waste of money after only a few games.

He suffers purely from when we signed him and everyone thinks he’s the Vik replacement. If we’d signed Wright at the time we sold Vik I swear all the focus would be on him instead.

Funny most were saying the same about Vik without giving him a chance to settle in Vik 1 goal in his first 9 games.
Now I dont know if he will come good but I am willing to give him a chance.

Movement alot better today, and good strength and pace at times, sunderland defence was solid enough tbf, I'm backing Simms to go on a scoring run, just needs that one goal to get him going

Was working with a Everton fan this week and I asked about Simms , he pissed his sides and told me he is shite , after today I have to agree . Can we return him and get our money back ? Because he isn’t what he was advertised for ( striker / goal scorer) lazier than Walker IMO … sorry

He supports a team that haven’t scored a goal all season, hardly a fine judge.
Typical clueless city fans writing him off already. You all did the same with Gyokeres, McNulty etc

I think it’s fair to say the fanbase isn’t the best judge when it comes to strikers.

Think Robins made a bit of an error when he made his public comments about Simms needing to work harder, think it was after one of the pre-season friendlies. Will have already swayed opinion amongst some fans.

The Sunderland forum has a thread on him. The general consensus is he’s not a very good footballer a lot saying he’s shite. Will score some goals from scuffs and being in the right place at the right time, glad they didn’t sign him especially for that money and to be fair they have seen a lot more of him than us.

It is a bit of a trope that he is lazy. He worked hard yesterday and thought it was his best game for us - we just need to develop and coach him and he’ll be a good signing.

I just knew instantly from seeing Simms at the Shrewsbury pre-season game some fans would have issues with him this season, as he doesn't run fast and looks a bit grumpy when he's playing
