Toney already said he wanted to move To the Championship so you know how that one will end - would be nice to have the GT force Godden and Toney !

Take Maddison on a free this summer as well.

Whilst we don't have the financial muscle to take toney. We should be looking for younger loan talent. Clubs now know what we do. So for every Walsh, o hare, enobakhere if we are now championship bound we could get the real hot talents. The Liverpool hotshot youth, the next mason mount etc. For me that's how we maintain our championship status next season with some a couple of perm signings similar to mcfadz, dabo

An Update From Chief Executive David Bottomley I suspect this reflects the view of all the 'smaller' clubs in L1.
Was nice to read about the dignity shown by Port Vale and Bradford in their vote. Shame MacAnthony isn't showing any. Happy for other clubs to go under just so his can try and get an unlikely promotion.

Hell of a reach to claim Toney could score 20-25 goals in A Championship season playing for Peterborough.
Threatening fellow clubs with legal action isn't going to go down well.

Weather they like it or not Tony will leave them this summer & has probably played his last game for the small club

Especially as he openly stated he would stand down if they weren’t promoted this season. He’s making himself look more of a wally with each day that passes.

Also the ‘quality’ of loans from Premiership clubs increase to Champ clubs. Most on the verge of breaking through or experienced players who need game time.

for me we continue the same kind of best young talent mixed with top quality loans.

we should also look at taking some of the best talent from L1.

Yeah it’s just weird, he’s just after self-publicity above anything else, he’d also quite happily shaft us and drag us into a mini tournament.

A lot of what he’s saying is just posturing, he’s trying to carve out a way for his club to have a chance at promotion. He hasn’t undermined our position, as far as I know. I don’t blame him, in fact I respect him more for the fight he’s putting up. He’s got a point as well in that it’s so close that if they decide it one way his team are in the play offs and if they decide it another they aren’t. And they’re pretty similar ways! The league was tight (below us), I’d say a fair way would be the 6 team play off, Doncaster haven’t done enough and neither have Ipswich.
Then arguably neither have Rotherham as they’re only 2 points ahead of 3rd and then they’d be a valid point that we weren’t mathematically promoted, so it’s only fair that we’re included in all of this.

he would need 51% of the vote to do that and there isn’t half the league that would want that. To be honest the 4 clubs who will cement a playoff place with unweighted PPG will now vote against DM proposals.

why would those 4 clubs want more competition!

After all that has been said and the current situation with the pandemic, I find it hard to believe you genuinely think that there there is a real chance of League 1 starting up again.
There could probably be play-offs or this type of mini-tournament, but if the mini-tournament goes ahead don't be surprised if all of a sudden if it ends in an outcome we aren't happy about.

You would think 1st to 6th would want PPG with traditional for play offs. same with about 11th to 20th.

Then 6-10 (depending how arsed Donny and Gillingham are about it) so maybe just 6-8 and relegation spots would want something else.

With a small margin of error depending on PPG weighted or not, Or if Ipswich want to throw toys out pram.

Cant see any of the top 6 voting to allow more clubs in to a play offs if they have the option not too.

By his logic then playoffs should go 11 pts down from Posh as well.
Gap between us and Posh if we win game in hand 11 pts so 11pts behind Posh are Burton in 12th.
He can't argue one thing then deny the other.
Tying himself up in knots.

Maybe so. I’m not arguing, just see his point as there’s 1 point separating 3-8 places.

Yeah, but I imagine Rotherham are pretty safe from it all as weighted or not weighted PPG they’re still in 2nd place. The ones below move about quite a bit! So top 2 go up, then 3rd to 8th use the conference method of play off. However, I think they’ll just do the same as L2 and then keep it to a 4 team play off.

I hope we end up with agreement to finish the season in ppg with the top two going up. Then there can be a second vote on if the playoffs contain 4 6 or 8 teams.

watch the rebel alliance fall apart when the 4 in those playoff spots vote for a 4 team system.

I didn’t say that anywhere. What I did say was that it’s odd to see critical views of a football chairman attempting to do everything possible to get some games on. Particularly when the Germans will likely get their season done

DM to take fellow clubs to court as well as EFL. Guys lost the plot. Business is about to fail so he’s lashing out.

Have Peterborough United missed out on a possible £25 million fee for Ivan Toney? Chairman admits failure to win promotion to the Championship would hit the club hard and he’s started legal discussions with fellow clubs and the EFL in his sights

What’s that supposed to mean? If the government thinks it’s fine to put me in a classroom with 15 kids and many more on site for a school day then we can have 22 men on a pitch for 90 minutes. Germany will finish the season in all likelihood. We will end it with legal threats and clubs still in big trouble for next season.

The point is that he knows there is very little chance of the League 1 season being finished and the situation between the two countries is very different.
For me he is more interested in getting himself in the media over wanting what’s best for his club.

In the respect that one country allows schools and football to restart and the other only allows schools?

I'm glad that League 2's fate is decided and applaud the magnanimity of teams who could have made the playoffs, but chose to err on the side of caution in terms of the health and well-being of their playing/non-playing staff as well as the sustainability of their respective teams/league.

However, I am so tired of this EFL deadlock on deciding the fate of League 1, especially after League 2 has set a precedent. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are these the only factors as causing the delay?:
1) The weighted PPG proposal vs the unweighted one produces a different outcome as to who the 3rd placed team to be promoted is (Wycombe or Oxford). Under either scenario Coventry and Rotherham get promoted.
2) These so-called big-teams and/or vocal chairmen/owners/managers of playoff-bound teams all feel their teams are entitled to a shot at being promoted (i.e. Peterborough, Sunderland and Fleetwood seem to be the ones making the most noise).

Looking at the League 1 table as it stands and taking the above factors into account, promoting the top 2 and holding a mini tournament/playoff between teams 3-8 should satisfy everyone I think. Similarly, at the bottom, relegating Bolton and Southend (who are far adrift from safety) and having a mini tournament/playoff between teams 18-21 should decide the 3 bottom spots (assuming the teams are willing to play on - although I'm not sure if teams at the bottom of any of the leagues would agree to this proposal, but would prefer having no relegations or voiding the season altogether).

Whats going to be interesting to see how the salty 6 act. Im guessing will start to look after their own self interest.

If its PPG standard playoffs Oxford,Pompy and Fleetwood are not going to stick around.

Almost agree with that. But as I said several post back, and I gave my reasoning - Rotherham are far from clear in second place, and should join the playoffs. Also Sunderland are out of it having played two games more than many. Peterborough and Wycombe both earn a place in the playoff's. Just look at the table to see how tight it is. Sporting integrity would seem satisfied if it was done like that. Sunderland can bleep all they like, but tbf not in contention for a place.
Once the playoffs got underway I would predict Rotherham and Portsmouth to make the other two promtion spots from that.

Hahaha if you take off the sky blue specs what you’re suggesting would also mean that we would get dragged into these play offs as well. It’s not like we’re mathematically promoted and if Rotherham are included then so should we.

Germans have got a significant start on English leagues - probably at least 5 weeks - with roughly same number of games to complete.
