Well 5 million divided by 47 clubs is over £100k

Apologies my maths is absolutely dogshite. Just over £217,000 per club. But yeah whatever the true figure is, it's simply not affordable for L1 and L2 clubs.

No worries. He also said min 150k for furloughed staff/players. So somewhere between your figure and 300k per club just to get things going again.

You clearly don't know and are just scared that your guess will be wrong.

The day you admit your wrong, I will have the biggest party ever (2m apart of cause, I don't "feck social distancing")

Maybe top 2 go up then a mini tournament
For the 3rd place? Think most teams would agree to that if it was a choice between full PPG or PPG with that added on

Probably. Which even for the top 6 who are voting for the season to continue may be a struggle when no income is coming through the door.

It's up to the individual chairmen whether they want to gamble that amount of money in the hope that their side achieves at least a play-off spot at the end of the season. Then you have to include the added cost of tests for the duration of the play-off fixtures (if they are to go ahead).

A big bill to pay if your side isn't successful at winning promotion.

If these 6 sides are so desperate for the rest of the season to continue at the detriment to other clubs in the league - especially financially, the EFL should tell them that if they can cover the costs of all the teams that can't the season can continue. They'll soon have second thoughts then

It should be postponed for as long as necessary to ensure the safety of players. Playing games BCD is not the answer ever.

It is pretty laughable that the country with the worst death rate, and likely one of the worst infection rates (if we had a clue) in the world still hasn't settled what happens with its football leagues. Throughout our society, the needs of the very wealthy are the primary concern in any decisions made.

The way I see it is those clubs are just trying to avoid a straight top three promotion as they feel it unfairly imbalances the season, one of the reasons Wycombe aren't involved in it. I think they'll agree to ppg if they can get playoffs back in so they still stand a chance. Apart from Ipswich, fuck knows what they're playing at.

according to an Ipswich fan I know. He said they want to get to the end of the season so they can activate a performance clause in lamberts contract that means they don't have to pay him off.

Yup, just have a look at the clubs not included in the P'boro chairman's tweet. They've must've had the heads up that PPG is likely to decide it and were just trying a bit of lobbying...

I wonder if Rotherham is going to be dragged into this. Apparently MacAnthony not too happy about them being promoted via automatics given they're only two points clear. I'm sure he'll make a noise soon enough and the other 5 clubs will follow.

It's quite funny him claiming he supports Coventry being promoted because it's quite clear that his stance is: if Peterborough can't be promoted then no one can.

Promotion or bust?
League One

Talking of Coventry, it's a big day for the Sky Blues, who are expected to learn their fate this morning.

League One clubs are meeting to discuss options for completing the season, with Mark Robins's side five points clear at the top of the table.

League Two clubs are also meeting today to determine what will happen in the fourth tier.

Stay tuned to find out the verdict...

I wish we had an owner that would drag other clubs along with them. He's a loud mouth and can get on your tits but you know where you stand with him as owner and he always tells fans exactly why he's done something.

Until the PL come to a decision regarding relegation I don't see how that can be the case.

The FA have made it clear that relegation and promotion must happen. Do the PL have the jurisdiction or right to deny it?

I'm not sure I necessarily agree. He regularly misleads Peterborough's fanbase about how much he's claimed to have sold players for in order to keep them onside. In recent memory he did this with Jack Marriott who was sold to Derby for around £2-3 and he claimed he'd accepted an offer for not a penny less than £6M.

He also claims he's after players when he's not. I'm sure a club or club chairman called him out on this a few years ago.

I'd probably rather a chairman or owner that says nothing to be honest as IMO he makes himself look incompetent.

I think some clubs are trying their hardest to override that jurisdiction. The F.A. just need to hold fast as I have no doubt relegation will accepted by the PL - it might just take some argy-bargy to get to that point.

In short no. The FA are the governing body of the sport, so unless the PL want to play under another national governing bodies rules....no.
They obviously think they are bigger than the governing body, but it might be timely reminder to them. If they don't comply then the FA has the ultimate sanction of not recognising any games played by the FA.
