Stamanic was scouted and we tried to buy him, turned out to be our luck Forest took him from us in the end. Markelo given he has been with us nearly 4 months is struggling for more than 5 mins here and there.

I am not having a go at those two particularly but we need to be realistic and can't rely on Austin to sign 4 or 5 unknown gems as stats in smaller leagues don't automatically transfer to the PL. That said I would like us to try for a wildcard forward with pace, skill and a great xg from Brazil.
We’ve got to get it perfect in the summer , can’t afford any brau type signings, pretty sure we’ll have a few already lined up,

Unlike last 3 seasons, we know well ahead of time of what league we’ll playing in as we’ve been top nearly uninterrupted since October.

The expectation has got to be that we’ve identified a lot of targets already. With Rushworth, I hope the sag is wrapped up early doors one way or another.

If we’re being realistic, I’m expecting us to require 2-3 seasons to build a squad and infrastructure to maintain prem status. Having Lampard as manager is boon because he’s great and will surely help recruit top players to join.

Realistically we probably will. But for every Brau or Hillsner there's a Hamer or Van Ewijk to unearth that we've not heard of. You're not going to hit the jackpot everytime however much research and homework is done. Lots of our signings have been written off early and come good, hopefully even KKH or Wolfenden even still can. The hardest to accept is that as we go through the leagues, the ones you get wrong are highlighted more as the values and risk increases.

Stamanic was good miss in the end would you not say? Markelo given the fee I am only saying that I am slightly surprised he has had so few minutes at Championship level, let alone premier league. He could still well come good for sure and I hope he does.

My main and over riding point is i hope like the Sunderland signing of Xhaka in midfield who had played for Arsenal etc. That we don't only roll the dice with all our signings next year. Robertson is leaving Liverpool for example, someone like that at first choice LB would be massive on the pitch and in the dressing room.

my only concern with Robertson is position. I feel fullback and wings are positions you can take a bit of a risk with a young signing we might profit from and CB and CM are good positions for experience where pace is less important

Think we need to accept Rushworth isn’t happening and be pleasantly surprised if it does. All the signs are Brighton want to keep him and there’s a lot of interest from elsewhere in the league if not.

It's all in brightons hands at the end of the day. Lots of options, lots of opportunities to reinvest.
They will get good money for verbruggen, very good money. They could go and cherry pick from some of the best keepers in the world, or could roll the dice with Rushworth.
I think they have a real dilemma on their hands tbh and are going to take a while to decide which route to take.

It really wouldn't surprise me though tbh, there's a history of Doug saying or doing the exact opposite of the thing he's actually planning, Repeatedly.
Most recently this comes to mind...

This is just sensible negotiating strategy tbh if you’re looking at buying the stadium you don’t want it to look like your only option.

Markelo looks brilliant to me. I think they are just easing him in.

Yes, I like the look of him. Pacey and gets some great crosses in.

I'd certainly expect him to at least try again. They'll want to move quickly this summer and can't afford to go into August without a keeper, especially if that move is critical to the budget.

King was asked about Rushworth on TalkSport yesterday and he didn't sound at all hopeful. I got the impression that he just believes that Brighton have always wanted him back.
Point taken, the same man did also float the idea that we’d build a new stadium the week (or so) before we announced we’d bought the CBS…

Since Rushworth isn’t our player, we’ve got to show BHA respect until that changes. Rushworth would definitely come back if he could.

How fucking predictable with Hackney. Such a boring choice.

Don't want us to sign the geezer at all to be honest. Technically gifted, but a wet fucking blanket.

Nah, I'm not excited by the prospect of Hackney either.

17th in league for assists
8th for passes
9th in league for accurate passes
3rd for shots off target
34th for on target
1st for blocked shots
33rd for tackles
33rd for player duels
11th for fouls commited
24th fouls drawn
14th foul involvement
38th goal involvement
22nd for crosses
48th average rating

I think we need to aim higher tbh.
And while we're at it, Matt Grimes is ahead of him on nearly every stat by some margin too adding to the "Matt Grimes was robbed" evidence.

I buy into this - although there are also many signs Brighton are shopping around for a keeper too.

One thing I will say, is after the success of keeping the team together last summer, is I think DK might place decent value on the idea of being able to retain Rushy too, so might mean DK is willing to make Brighton an offer they can't refuse too.

All speculation obvs but that's why I've got a glimmer of hope we might get him.
