From what DK has said I get the feeling that is broadly the plan should we make it up.

Id like to hope if Robins/King came out preseason and said we’re not going to spend loads because this can secure the clubs future most people would back it. I’d be selling it as an opportunity to put yourself in the shop window in the biggest league in the world and hope to attract a few young players who otherwise would have gone to a top Championship club.

Or even better King sells up for a fat profit to someone who can afford to back Robins in the Prem.

Didn’t he say something in the CWR interview the other day that insinuated that? Maybe it was suggesting a very long term lease, I can’t remember the wording.

The last para is interesting based on what another (can’t recall who, but it wasn’t one of the nutters so maybe credible) poster mentioned about talks between Frasers and DK. CCFC becomes about 10 times more valuable if we go up and may need backing to stay there.

This season has been one of the most intriguing off the pitch and exciting on the pitch that I can ever remember.

If we somehow did manage a promotion, I would be very tempted to invest very little, come back down with the £100m, buy the ground, put the rest towards the team, and fly back up.

Even if we didn't buy a single new player, I would bet our current squad would at least get enough points for a dignified relegation. We would certainly beat Derby's 11 points total.

It'll all go to Seppala

I’m still not convinced Ashley wants in, but both the club and the stadium would get serious multipliers on their value in the Prem, so might be a chance for a bit more symbiosis certainly.

In Football Manager parlance, the objective would be 'attempt to fight bravely against relegation'. Of course some fans would start getting trigger happy being bottom of the table, I'd like to think just as many if not more would do the opposite.

One has already been sounding out David Moyes as next season’s saviour

I sort of agree, though not to that extent. I'd want us to sign 4-6 decent players and get the likes of Gyok and Hamer on longer term deals, meaning significant wage increases. Also look at bringing in a number of good youngsters so should we go back down we've got a good set of talent waiting to cushion the blow.

I think I'd also look to spend more on other infrastructure like scouting, academy and coaching, as well as improvements to training facilities that will be an attraction to potential signings.

Owning the stadium can be a double edged sword, as although you get the revenues you also have to take on the costs. I'd certainly be looking to improve the deal we have to use the Arena, or even take a part stake depending on the cost, but I don't think it would be wise to use all the money on acquiring the stadium.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves and making plans for money we don't yet have.

We need a whole new team - unless we pay certainly Gyokeres say £40 grand a week he wouldn’t stay and the notion we could attract players as it’s a move training ground is straight out the Wasps playbook

Spend it on assets when we can IMO, buy somewhere bigger/better than Ryton and build a new training and academy complex, maybe with Warwick Uni. Maybe buy some land near the ground for a supporters club or a permanent home for Dhillons. Stuff that even if we fall on hard times we can use or sell.

All commendable but somehow doubt will be actually owned by the club

We've probably got Vik and Hamer who could do a decent job, and O'Hare could be effective too.

But even if we sign a whole new team we're probably still going to be underdogs that struggle, and we're probably going to need to pay silly money to attract anyone half decent - Lingard for example?

We spent so many years on a financial precipice it would be foolhardy to spend all that money on trying to stay up and if we fail we're struggling because we've got a squad on silly wages and who probably won't want to be here.

So let's be pragmatic, think long term and concentrate on the overall infrastructure alongside a team that might be able to survive in the Prem but if not will be very good in the Championship, even if we lost some of the star names.

And I think in the current market you're probably looking at more like £60k pw to keep the likes of Vik here if we go up.

Probably not, and even if it was it could be take by the owner at any time, such is football.

But we’re spending £100m we will likely never have so cross that bridge when we come to it.

In an ideal world a long lease, the clubs IP, and the training ground, etc would be gatekept by the fans. Good luck getting an owner to agree to that though.

Hopefully Robins, Viveash, Lawrence, Fadz and Kelly got him hammered after the game and got him to sign up to all kinds of promises for if we got promoted. Make him sign them in blood, Tony Wilson style.

Looking at clubs like Norwich they have a very good revenue through commercial channels (sponsorship?) in the premier league - total non TV revenue was over £30 million so with us say selling Gyokeres we could easily have £150m revenue to work with

I disagree. He’s a very astute businessman and there will be some clause somewhere in his favour IF he wants the club at all that is.

I still disagree. The time to have bought the club would have been when it was obvious that SISU was struggling and the club would have been at its cheapest. I believe they took a massive hit when they sold.
Time will prove if I'm wrong.

Minor point but it looks like Doug’s Mrs is catching the Sky Blue bug (I presume it’s his wife, the blonde lady sat with him the last couple of times he’s been at the match - correct me if I’m wrong please). Seems to be really caught up with it all.

This is good.

Better to have her onside and keen than not.
