If they find people renting other accounts then they hammer the companies for not having the correct checks and procedures in place. Fine the company every time somebody is caught using a rented account.

"Only way they can earn money" makes it sound like they aren't getting money from the government and their bills paid for.

You see takeaways getting raided and charged for having illegal workers so why not Uber eats and deliveroo?

That's exactly what the government is trying to do but there's a problem with successfully convicting the likes of Uber, Just Eat etc when they can just turn round and say we have processes in place, its not our fault if people abuse them. That's before you consider the manpower needed for that type of enforcement. That's why its only even a day or two which happens after weeks of planning to ensure they have the resources in place.

Its very different to raiding your local takeaway. At your local the person is actually there in front of the employer, its then very hard for the employer to defend. With app based services the id verification is done at sign up and then periodically during use. Now we don't know the plans for the governments digital id or how it could be tied to employee verification on delivery apps so its hard to say what, if any, impact it will have.

If you're an asylum seeker in a hotel you're getting less than a tenner a week. It shouldn't really be a surprise people are then looking for cash in hand work. The system is designed around quick processing of applications when the reality is its taking years.

most EU countries now have some form of national ID card

Immigration probably isn't the major issue affecting us working folks, paying the bills etc... but the perception is it's out of control and nobody else seems to want to take radical steps to address it. it's the reasons why stay in other safe countries but choose not to is what they are looking at and looking for ways to make it less desirable for people to do so.

So yes most people don't come to the uk but a lot do and pass through other safe countries

This is the issue really. We're in an era of vibe based politics.

Immigration being a prime example. When people are surveyed about what they think the numbers around various related things are they are generally way off which then makes it incredibly difficult to resolve to anyone's satisfaction.

The actual problems, why we're all skint and depressed, isn't even being addressed because people are too busy running about shouting 'stop the boats'.

I think the boats thing really gets people angry for a few reasons.

1. A lot of Families are working full time, both partners and they are still absolutley skint. They see people getting given things for free when they have contributed nothing to this country and have entered illegally, its like rubbing salt in the wound.

2. We have no idea who they are, the vast majority are economic migrants because if they wasnt they would stay in the first safe country they entered.

3. Its embarrasing for our nation that we cant deal with it as career politicians are more interested in keeping their job than dealing with the divisve issue.


I think that vast majority of people in this country welcome migration and are open and welcoming. It the "illegal" immigration they dont want.
