She took £165,000 out of the trust for her own personal use

From what I have read that was the purchase price paid to her by the trust for acquiring a quarter share in the Manchester house. It's not necessarily wrong but great care is required as a trustee cannot benefit personally from a trust.

Dealings between the trust and a trustee would need to be permitted by the trust deed, the other trustees would need to agree and the fairness of the price paid would need to be justified by independent valuations.

The clever move, from the point of view of her own self-interest, would probably be to resign from that position but stand in the ensuing party election.

She is supposedly very popular with the party members, in which case she would probably be re-elected. That would give her a stronger mandate and she could even more of a thorn in Starmer’s side.
