Wonder who is leaking these stories all of a sudden?
An anonymous Tory MP who attended trying to oust Boris?

I have to hold my hands up, I said to Faz last week that the party wouldn’t be an issue for the government but was wrong. That was before the constant denials/lies, rumours of more parties, the film of the press officer joking about it and Rees-Mogg...all of which has turned this into a shitstorm with far more media focus

Like a couple of other issues that could’ve been put to bed relatively quickly (Hancock and Cummings being sacked immediately and then the Paterson mess, spring to mind) the situation has been made ten times worse. The lack of judgement is frightening !

Exactly, it shouldn't have been a problem.

But their flat out refusal to admit something and apologise for it has cost them dearly.

If he'd come out and apologised for it then it would have been brushed under the carpet within a few days/weeks.

They just keep digging themselves deeper deeper. That's the problem when you continually lie, about everything. Eventually it catches you out and there's no coming back.

He literally knows no other way, has continuously lied, blustered & self-served in every role he's had but got elected anyway.
Stunned that people couldn't see through his façade & ironically the parties are probably the least sinister/heinous acts he & his cronies have committed but it's finally hit it home to the average voter.

I actually think it still would be a problem. Why should it be one rule for them? How can anyone take the rules seriously when they continue to break them in that way.

It fucking winds me up. People couldn´t even have proper funerals for their loved ones to say goodbye, and the people putting those stupid rules in place are there having a jolly and laughing at us.

Of course he might not be lying.
Which leaves us with the comforting thought that the man running the country doesn't know whether or not there was a party in his own house.

Oh I agree it should be a problem, I'm just saying that if he'd come out and admitted it & apologised it'd soon be forgotten about, like all their other scandals.

I'm not saying that's right, just what I think would happen.

It was already starting to die down and disappear until this leaked video appeared yesterday.

Surely need an election and criminal proceedings now. I know loads that went to parties and whatever, even done it myself, but we aren't running the country. Need to be whiter than white.

It’s the classic tale of only being sorry because you got caught. Nice crocodile tears though

Allegra Stratton resigns over No 10 Christmas party video

The tearful ex-journalist apologised, saying she would "regret the remarks for the rest of my days".

Yeah, fuck her, she's a piece of shit. But it's going to need someone further up the food chain to fall on their sword I reckon.

We need far more accountability in public office regardless of political hue.
These people are here to serve the public not take the piss out of them.

It's the Gillian Taylforth effect.

The denial causes more publicity than the offense itself.

Doesn’t he have like a chief of staff there or something? At least she’s gone for a start.

This has cut through much more than I imagined. My family chat they’re all going on about it and they never discuss politics. Even my sister that voted conservative (already disowned) said she couldn’t vote for him again.

And of course the Cabinet Secretary himself is alleged to have been at the party so, as usual, policing themselves.

This is what I find fascinating with the Conservatives. Everything we know so far indicates it wasn't specifically something organised by Johnson but they will get rid of him and move on like it never happened and nobody else in the party had anything to do with it. Yet people will happily bring up things long departed members of other parties did as a valid reason not to vote for them.

It seems that the excellent Dan Hodges actually covered the celebrate Dominic Cummins sacking party thrown by Carrie in the PM’s flat last year at the time.

Matt Hancock grope

Pritti Patel breaking the ministerial code.

Jacob Rees-Mogg lying to the queen.

Dominic Raab the sea was closed

Dominic Raab the police only prosecute if they catch you in the act so only commit a crime on a shift change.

It's been confirmed he wasn't at the party. So now he can investigate the party that didn't happen.

He's just digging a bigger hole at the Covid press conference.

Gets asked how can people follow the advice knowing that the government can't/won't...

...and proceeds to ignore the question and o
give a gushing tribute to the woman who had to resign over the issue.

Stupid fucking prick.

Using exactly the same formulation of no rules were broken in relation to the other parties. Just unable to learn.

This could come back to haunt him.
Asked if the resignation was evidence of other people taking responsibility for what happens in Downing Street, Johnson says he "takes responsibility for everything that happens in this building and government".
