Why do people do it then Nick? How many other mums would do the same?Of course people will defend and gather round in times of need.
You keep trying to make out it's about money and power, there's literally no excuse for a mum or a community to try and cover up child rape.
If somebody knows their community and family will back them then that's all you really need to know about the community.
Why do people do it then Nick? How many other mums would do the same?
have you ever defended someone you know to be in the wrong?
Who’s doing whataboutery now?The justice system was fine when it was putting people in prison for tweeting within a couple of weeks?
The plight of animals is more important to you than that of your fellow man? It’s still politics. So there’s no need to swap threads - if you believe they are justified that’s fine but plenty thought the IRA were fine in their actions. You agree with the law or you face the consequences.
If I was now single at my age and with no responsibilities I’d be down at Cambridge and protesting against the Stasi style law passed in the lords the other day and would be happy to be arrested. That’s surely the point of wanting tk break laws and sorry but the plight of these animals is far more important to me than Gaza
Who’s doing whataboutery now?
and no it wasn’t
There were no spaces in prisons so violent offenders were being released early
There are waiting lists for trial of a number of years
There are people in and out of prison with severe mental health issues
Talk about not opening your eyes
Same with our friend and good for you acting with integrity and doing what was rightWhen my brother commuted his crimes I assisted the police as his behaviours were not acceptable and he ruined peoples lives
The plight of animals is more important to you than that of your fellow man?

Like animals, humans don't choose to be born, never mind where and to whom they are born. What's happened in Gaza is a disgusting human rights atrocity, people are entitled to be furious about it.It’s certainly no less - mankind isn’t a great species really is it
You won’t see me defending putting someone in jail for something they’ve said rather than doneWasn’t some bloke put in clink for a tweet and had 33 followers?

I didn't say anything about labour, Tory, right, left. You won’t see me defending putting someone in jail for something they’ve said rather than done
However I don’t make the laws and it was a Tory Home Secretary who out the law in place and I’m sure they pleaded guilty to inciting racial hatred.
Maybe it's the self awareness thing...
You now revert to the victim act..
the play is to cry racism..
I'm pretty sure it was you who jumped in
not really personally insulting you by stating facts.
You can question what you likeAt what point can you question culture?
Of course I have defended somebody in the wrong, by wrong I mean petty shit at work etc. I'm not talking about them raping a child.
If somebody is that comfortable that their family and community will back them after that crime then I don't know what else you need to know.
Guess so but there are similar all over the world on a daily basis - especially Africa and China. The Gaza situation definitely attracts more attention than these. Can’t think why.
I don’t think I was even implying that grooming gangs aren’t being dealt with because there’s no money in the justice system let alone saying itIt's not whataboutery Pete. You were trying to make out the grooming gangs arent being dealt with because there's no money in the justice system.
I said that it seemed to be efficient when they wanted to jail people for tweets.
I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been much of an issue in Tamworth if one of the residents of the hotel hadn't raped a young girl just after entering the country either.
Again, absolutely nothing to dispute my points.Nick, if you can't see the irony in this post then with genuine respect and no hard feelings, we shouldn't talk about stuff in this bit of the forum. You think I'm stealthily calling you racist and start chucking insults. It's pointless. I'll do my best to hold up my part of the bargain on that, but it's hard when you post stuff like this...
I took free tickets given by work a few times because it was one of my last chances to watch live sport with my dad and my kids all together. If you keep baiting me with it, we're gonna have words. Out of order to dig at how much this club does or doesn't mean to me. Leave it. DM for anything else on it. You said your piece on here, I've said mine.
Shame there's no consistency.......
The plight of animals is more important to you than that of your fellow man?
You can question what you like
I’m saying to you there will be just as may people in the British community who will have done the same thing as this mayor. Utterly repulsive that it is and of course criminal.
So yep question a culture where people behave selfishly and look after their own but to say it’s more prevalent in Muslim communities is just wrong
Unless you can prove it of course with proper evidence and facts
As a cat person myself I also feel very strongly about animal cruelty and find the thought of it deeply distressing. You'll also find multiple posts from me on here saying what I think about horseracing and greyhounds, I think both should be banned.I know you didn't ask me, but it is a thought provoking question. I would have to be very honest here and say I prefer my dogs to most humans. I would put my life on the line for them. I think Grendel's point is a wholesome one, I was thinking along the same lines as well. I don't really want to get into the testing thing, or even the way so many animals are treated around the world, I genuinely find it all too upsetting. It is a cause I feel strongly about, so I can sympathise with some of the protesters with how they feel with their causes, and I do mean that. You cannot go round attacking police officers though. It made no sense to me as the game was up at that point anyway.

The sheer volumes of people being bombed, shot and starved in Gaza however upsets me greatly too. You only have to look at some of the footage and photos taken on the ground there to be moved by it, whatever else you think of the conflict. Those people just happened to be born in the wrong place at the wrong time.
#pray4whoeverwillmakemelookabetterpersonandgetmelikesGuess they could have been born in the Congo - they’d be getting less attention and support
Well look at what the police and local community said when Peter Sutcliffe was at large. As soon as women who weren't prostitutes were killed the dialogue changed to 'oh but these women were of good repute, why would he do it?' as though the other victims mattered less.Which is is again why nothing will ever get sorted.
"Yeah but British people do too"
So people have to be passionate about every human rights issue in the world or none at all?Guess they could have been born in the Congo - they’d be getting less attention and support

All the grooming gangs scandal has highlighted is that attitudes towards victims of crime have not changed much despite decades passing.

I'm not about that. My original point is why is somebody more passionate about one issue thousands of miles away but not ones closer to their doorstep or others thousands of miles away.So people have to be passionate about every human rights issue in the world or none at all?

Ok, but as issues go the slaughter of tens of thousands by a Western ally is understandably high profile.Well it’s interesting what is a popular issue and what isnt
